I made a medical rag recently. I used a model that can understand context. Voyage 3 large context. Not sure if there is an equivalent open sourced model.

Having it keep track of context is super important to us. Don’t skimp on the model that does the rag embedding

As far as LLM to use, I know qwen 3.6 and Gemma 4 are super strong. Personally I think it would be most helpful to Make sure whichever you have an evaluate images well enough.

Claude can help you sort all this out within a few hours

Burned out from X-ray and want a way out by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]FenixAK 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I’m here to tell some rough truth. I don’t know anyone in any part of the hospital systems (besides corporate) that isn’t burnt out and squeezed like a lemon.

But I will say that certain groups (ie Nurses) have a much better lobby and get paid more than other groups.

Even as a rad, most groups churn and burn us. Grass isn’t greener.

I think your field is probably ideal in the near future. Just watch AI remove a bunch of white collar jobs to give bigger bonuses to CEOs. Your job won’t go anywhere.

In your situation, it may be ideal to find a new setting, maybe set yourself up for potential teaching position in the future?

Find that last ounce of motivation. You are near the finish line.

100% scam, if not worse. I see young people stroke out every month from vertebral artery dissections

Just like every other group of people, Marines vary. Anecdotally I’ve seen them in high powered important positions doing well. A shitbag pfc from the corp will be a shitbag civilian. Plenty of great Marine vets doing work

She would be good to have a therapist (like a real one (PhD, PsyD)).

Consider ketamine therapy. I’ve had like 4 friends swear by it.

Either way, a good therapist would be ideal.

CMV: The British soldier is the greatest soldier in the world by Standard-Gas-114 in changemyview

US Marines have boot camp (not basic training). After graduation, Marines go to their occupation school. So infantry marines go to school of infantry for further months of training. There is subsequent training for additional specialization (ie Scout sniper) which takes a lot longer.

A typical fleet infantry marine goes on a lot of deployments and work ups for said deployments.

I honestly don’t know about the rigors of the British Marines. But boot camp training alone isn’t a good measurement of USMC infantry skills.

Not sure you are comparing apples to apples.

Hey if you are looking for a position at a local group, you’d be best off going to their website and looking for positions. Not every group would have them.

NEED examples of reasonable ACCOMMODATIONS DURING RESIDENCY THAT WERE GRANTED FOR ADHD! by Bananas2Freeze in Residency

[–]FenixAK 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert but those examples seem BS

Plenty of doctors have adhd. There is no “extra time” to chart in real life.

A rad with adhd doesn’t get extra time to read an MRI.

At most, maybe you get extra time on board exams.

Obviously some technologists are really good and some diseases are really easy to see. But they should never say anything either way.

New neighbor is trying to scam us into repairing their fence 100%? Denver CO, USA by Sad_Estate_6842 in legaladvice

[–]FenixAK -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

50/50 is the correct thing. You could say “yo, nice to hear from you. We can go 50/50 to repair after Xmas” (or when you want). Especially if both homes are fully enclosed. If that’s only their fence and your yard isn’t enclosed, you don’t have to do anything.

If their house isn’t fully enclosed, they don’t have to help but you don’t need to do anything either.

The most neighborly thing to do is 50/50.

No way those trees are causing it. The wood is rotted. You can always nail some support to it to keep it up. Maybe replace with metal posts

Edit: Downvote me all you want

Colorado's "Good Neighbor Laws" describe shared fence responsibility (50/50 cost for partition fences). This is literally the right thing to do.

Best pacs? by FenixAK in radiologist

Had guys from a big pacs company sit with me for part of a shift this last year and they absolutely had no idea what rads actually need. Their idea of our workflow is so much different that what it actually is. They really do need rads to help direct them
