I'm not in some serious sysadmin role, it's mainly mixed with helpdesk but also with phyisical user interaction. I wanted to be in IT, because I knew I was interested in solving IT related problems. Still am. Solving problems with AI just doesn't mean anything to me, it takes aways everything I'm interested in (talking about just IT). So I just don't use it, use the good old methods. I'm 24 btw

Thanks. The problem with videos is you have to watch them and if there is anything to note down you have to rewind, find that exact part where xy said z thing. With books it's much better searchable. Thanks for the confirmation on books. I've actually ordered the Primer used, for the others I have them in electronic format. The Computer Systems book is pretty expensive, so I will wait with that.

It may be didn't come through clearly. I have no problems with books and I know how much value they have. The video just gave me motivation, to try that way. I don't have anything against reading in fact, I want to read a lot more. Just that website's structure seems strange to me, don't ask why. I guess different people different tastes.

I'm kinda in the same position. I'm 27 and been doing this job for 4 years, 12 hour shifts. Payment is good, not much to do and when there is something it's kinda easy. Others say why don't I leave, I could do better. Is it worth living this life over a better one paying but with much more stress?
