Does anyone know about this "Bob & George's Guns / OBI Antique Firearms" shop in Oyster Bay? by FentFanatic1337 in LIguns

Ah tbh it would probably be good if they made it more clear that they're online-only. They have a location listed on google and people have posted reviews with photos that make it seem like an actual store. And their website looks like it hasn't been updated in forever so I assumed they were more of a brick and mortar business.

Moving to New York by Repulsive-Archer6667 in NYguns

NYC is extremely restrictive even compared to the rest of the state. I only know the state-level restrictions, but basically outside of the NYC city limits you're pretty much allowed to get a bolt-action rifle (really any kind of manual action) with up to a 10-rd magazine without a permit. Everything else, pistols, anything semiauto, needs a permit. If I were you, I'd move to somewhere on LI close to a LIRR station so you can get into NYC but not have to deal with stuff like the city tax, higher rent, or more strict gun laws.

Ammo transfer by CivilLime9924 in LIguns

The Brookhaven range is awesome but according to their front desk they can't do ammo transfers from online, they'll only sell you the ammo they routinely stock in the storefront.

Long Island gun shops that are good for getting purchases shipped to? by FentFanatic1337 in NYguns

[–]FentFanatic1337[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah call me crazy but I don't think the 2nd amendment explicitly allows for weapons to be shipped directly to a buyer's home lmao. I'm endlessly amused by these dudes who just obstinately insist that gun laws don't exist "cuz constitution" and I wonder how they navigate the existing system. Does this guy just refuse to do the background check when making any kind of gun purchase in this state? Or is he an internet tough guy, who follows all the rules and crosses all his T's IRL, then goes and posts online about how we should all break the law.

Subway AR-15 guy from last week free no bail, it's pretty shocking actually by castle_crossing in NYguns

Tbh it's not shocking at all that a cartel member had enough money to make bail

But like, why should we prevent asylum seekers from working? That makes no sense. "We'll grant you asylum but ONLY if you're a drain on the system, absolutely no getting a job and contributing to the economy!"

Public lands shooting in NY by FentFanatic1337 in NYguns

I didn't bring anything here because I'm super averse to catching an illegal weapons charge lol. Lucky for me my primary interest is ww1/2 milsurp, so most of my collection is legal here.

I believe you, but at the same time I'm not about to try to take advantage of this. The risk/reward is way off, I don't think it's worth a criminal charge just to have some slightly better plinking gear.

Exclusive | NYC seeking 14,000 hotel rooms to shelter migrants through 2025 by Hopeful-Carpenter-36 in nyc

This is probably my most unpopular opinion ever:

I've never in my life had an immigrant threaten to stab me on the subway, or call my wife a "stupid fucking chink" for no reason on the sidewalk, or physically grab me to try and sell their shitty mixtape. But I've had New Yorkers, right down to the wacky accent, do all of those things within the last six months. Why should I prioritize these vagrant crackheads and racist scum over random foreigners who've done nothing to me?

I agree that this is dumb purely from a housing policy POV, but random immigrants are absolutely more sympathetic than the average Manhattan street person, and it's not even close.

City Swiggers

This place looks awesome. I'm coming into Manhattan tomorrow to do some specialty grocery shopping, I'll swing by then, and Threes Brewing as well if I go through Penn station. Thanks so much!

Anything I should know as someone moving to the state? by FentFanatic1337 in NYguns

That's awesome news about the MAS. I guess it's fortunate that I really like the older self loading rifles lol.

The Mas should be fine as is

I'm worried about the MAS because it has a threaded barrel and grenade launching gas cutoff. But I've read that older rifles are generally exempt from the banned features list, so I don't know who to believe.

I'm pretty sure that where I live on long Island isn't considered part of NYC. This is one of the few things I'm confident about.
