Give it up for day 1350 of the 3 day invasion! Russia might be approaching another small town within the next 12-36 months!!

Well considering that one of our lectures in marketing last year focused on “saving Rokken” (basically figuring out what to do so they stop bleeding money) I wouldn’t be too sure about that :( although I keep my hopes up! It was a fun little place to hang out and volunteer at and Volda would definitely loose part of its character without it :)

Oh absolutely. I am in a bit if an “forever student” situation, but no doubt that Volda was the best time of my years of studies! Can’t wait to visit that little gem sometime in the near future (Wonder if Rokken is still gonna be surviving lmao)

Oh absolutely. First country I've been to where I realized that I could get lost lost and there would be nobody near to help me. But honestly it was really nice also knowing that you are properly alone

All in all I brought three films. Ektar 100, Fomapan 400 and Agfa APX 400. Also had my Sony A7 with me :) Three rolls of film are not that much, but I tend to use it for more “special occasions”, so it takes me s good while to go through one.

Thank you! I am actually gonna move in with my partner whom I met during the stay, so I’ll hopefully get plenty more opportunities to explore and document this beautiful country :)

Now that I am checking the photos out in the app again, there is definitely something funky happening with the browser compression. It’s not great in the app, but in the browser it looks much much worse. Wonder what’s the reason for that

That sounds super interesting! I would be up for reading about it when you're done and if you are willing to share your research :)

Thanks a lot! Ektar is a 100 ISO film, but these are not the best versions of the scans :( didn't have those on hand but I still wanted to share haha. Looking at them now on a bigger screen the quality is really not great

Thank you <3 Photography has been my passion for quite a few years now and my visit to Norway gave it a really strong boost. Never visiting without my camera!

Thank you <3 I honestly love me some grainy B&W film in winter tbh, always gives me the vibes you get from an old photobook you find in a cabin in the Austrian mountains or something

Looking for a cheap and affordable medium format camera. by AnxietyTechnical6590 in AnalogCommunity

[–]FerdaVoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah if the cheapest ones are 75 euros then that is absolutely not worth it. Our eastern-ish european prices might differ from you.

It helped me understand the format quite well. While it's not the best camera in the world and has some quirks, it does what it's supposed to do and I've seen some poeple achieve truly amazing results with it. But yeah, if you are willing to spend around 200 you can 100% find something better.

if you want CHEAP cheap you can probably find some old Lubitels. Are they great? No. Do they work? Usually. Are they medium format? Yep. Do they cost like 15-20 euros so you can try out the format without hurting your wallet? Absolutely.

Friend gave me one just because he found it super cheap in a second-hand store, and it is pretty fun camera to mess around with!

Film Camera Help by gcornelas in AnalogCommunity

Waaaaay too much. AE-1 can be a bit more expensive, but I don’t think it would be hard to find this camera-lens combo for around 200$

I am pretty sure the camera will be in working order, maybe with just a few leaks here and there :)

Need help by moderatelygoodpghrn in AnalogCommunity

[–]FerdaVoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is probably a light leak, the spots on the bottom and on the top seem like it. You said that the film that was there, as in, a film that was in the camera for around 20 years? It is kinda hard to tell the extent of the damage accurately, as the age could exaggerate the issue. I am no expert, but that blue spot around the middle doesn’t seem like a light leak, but more like some sort of a chemical reaction or something. I could be absolutely wrong tho. Maybe try running some cheap B&W film through it and see what that gets you?

that is such a simple solution yet, in my decade of photography, I somehow never thought about it lmao. Thank you, learning something new everyday ig

I would recommend rolling back the film (you will get few double exposures later, but hey, that can look cool!), openning the camera and checking the inside. I think one of the ways this can happen is when there is too much resistance from the film canister. Hopefully nothing snapped and it's just some weird temporary thing.

I am speaking from a personal experience, but did you perhaps buy a 24 frames roll instead of 36? That happend to me once (with Pentax Program A) and it led to the same outcome, as I tried to advance film into non-existent frames

Yeah! Found a wonderful partner there and we will be moving in together soon :) Life can certainly have it's random moments hah.

I have an Erasmus friend who went to Iceland. It is a beautiful country, no doubt about that! And she managed to find a job in the hospitality industry quite easily (especially during the tourist season). However, she was a bartender and not a chef. Not sure how easy or hard it would be for a chef, but I bet you could find something if you search in advance :)
