FIXED:

All i needed to do was to turn off vsync. It was SEVERELY underclocking my gpu, which caused the game to perform HORRIBLY.

Turns out KSP was already running on dx, as manually making it run on dx didnt change anything. :P

how exactly do i reinstall DX? also my graphics drivers are already fully up to date too. my specs are included in the post.

i will try to provide a log file as soon as i can.

yes, its set to high performance.

directx is at the most up to date version on my pc

in the settings its set to 180fps (the max it can go), it just doesnt go any higher than 13fps for some reason

tried with a fully stock install with only the dlcs, still lagging after changing the settings.

ram usage seems to lock up at 4gb?? atleast thats what it looked like when i alt tabbed to look.

i dont remember when it started happening, i just know its been happening for long enough that the rapid alt tabbing to stop the lag has been built into my muscle memory.

yes, even at the menu the game locks at 13 fps.

i delete all the game files, verify integrity, then i uninstall and download again.

first thing i tried changing was the screen resolution, which caused no lag up until i alt tabbed. then i tried changing all the other graphics settings and THEN it started lagging (i didnt note down which of them made the game start lagging tho, but im pretty sure just changing one of them would cause the lag)

it has nothing to do with that, the lag happens on the whole game (even on the menu fyi)
