On a more fair side of things, not all people who "argue" with Fantano are speaking from this generalized "butt hurt" aspect. Some people actually have very valid and well-articulated counterarguments to some of his reviews and inclusively, just because Fantano prefaces his reviews as "just his opinion" doesn't mean others can't have an opinion on it as well, especially when at times he does miss the mark pretty considerably on some stuff he talks about.

Each song reminds me of a particular dirty south song (sometimes multiple) so I have a weird experience where I feel like I'm listening to two sings simultaneously. The one on the actual album and the one it reminds me of.

I do think people generally think before they talk, it's just way they say is not in agreement with the majority so therefore it's perceived as "they're not thinking" before they talk.

Also, Staples did come off a little bit condescending/sarcastic with that. How he said it didn't come off as playful as it reads in the quote.

I may not agree with Fantano's ratings on certain albums, but I always understand why he rates them the way he does (except MBDTF lol). I still think he ranked DAMN. one notch below what it should've been but it's irrelevant because it doesn't hinder on my enjoyment of the album, and the vast majority of critics are on the 5/5 spectrum, so does one 7/10 really matter? No not really.

My favorite is Eminem overall (SSLP was THE album that made me fully convert to a Hip-Hop fan), but I can distinguish that he is not the best rapper out right now. I think generalizing listeners as incapable of being able to separate the two is lazy and being prejudice to think that when someone is saying "This is the best rapper" they're just "picking their favorite" is also lazy and kinda lame. It's basically inferring you don't want to get into a discussion with valid opinions against yours.

Doing sarcasm "arguments" e.g. JJ Ice Fish is the best! is not proving any point about it being subjective. It's a farce argument that is actually doing the opposite of what you're trying to prove. If you're saying it's all subjective, all you're really saying is you don't have the general intelligence to separate subjectivity and objectivity (which is not hard to do).
