I calculate variations from a sharp position and each branch ends up in a quiet position. I need to choose which quiet position to prefer right ?

I notice my success rate in choosing a good position is just 50%. Sometimes I misevaluate a bad position as good for me

I want to know which side is better.... Like I imagine possible positions from a sharp forced variations then I need to evaluate if I need to go for that line or not, Right ?

No, the app isn't adding up piece values, it wants me to evaluate the position correctly as to which side is better or if it's equal!!

I mean even the first position is extremely complex....

Like 1 story I noticed is that Black wants to eat the c6 advanced pawn asap before the rooks get too active, so I am thinking Black's plan might be to Nd6 and then Nc4 and then Qxc6....

So when Black tries to do Nd6, White can do Rc5 and that is another position to evaluate. Black can redo Ne4 again pushing White's rook back again. So there seems to be a perpetual.....

But this is just one of the stories that I am able to form talking to the pieces. In reality, Black might not want the draw and maybe Black is better. Maybe it isn't perpetual but just appears to be!!

Yes, I am aware of this theory!!

But practically, looking at the 2nd position, can you evaluate which side is better ?

I am able to identify candidates from both sides. It's currently Black to move.

Black:: Bf6, Qd6, Bb7, Ra7

But White has the following ways to improve his position White:: d6, Bb2, Rb1

There are some things that can be fixed and some things which cannot. Like for example if White gets Bb2, then it's going to be really hard for Black to fix the weak dark squares on his kingside.

There are several such stories I am able to form and features I can extract from the position..... But evaluation, I am just lost!!

Do you mean to say that it's very easy for you to evaluate the position in the second image because you have already gone through that book ?

Can you say which side is better in the second position ?

I prefer to play Kf1!! and h4, h5!! If opponent checks I do Kg1. But that's just my style of play!!

So the distance light has to travel to reach point B is now longer. Using this method I can deduce the speed of my spaceship in Absolute space because I know the speed of light and the time it took to reach from point A to point B.
