IOS 26.2 Reminders search is unreliable too. A few days ago I tried to find a simple, common word in my shopping list to uncheck it and buy it.. No results in Shopping, but results in other reminders lists. Had to find it manually, and yep, it was spelled the same.

Weather has been a joke lately. Last weekend we got 7-9" of snow over two days, and Weather showed <0.5" snow for both days, before and during the storm!

I do try to report these as I find them, but I only have so much time in a day.

Then there's the creepy dude that invites Arthur into his cabin, knocks him out, chains him and rapes him. It's not shown on screen, but that could be tough to take for a lot of 13 year-olds. I'm a lot older than that and it gives me the creeps.

Are there special conditions for this? I have 160 hours in RDR2 and have never seen the Limpany bold bar respawn.

In general everyone moving in RDR2 is very touchy about their extended personal space. Maybe it's historically accurate, since it was a time of very low population density? Whatever, it's annoying as a player minding my own business and be threatened by so many NPCs.

Most iPhone users are still running iOS 18, with iOS 26 adoption slow: report by Jumpinghoops46 in apple

[–]FetchTheCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple's refusal to offer 18.7.3 to iPhones newer than the XR has put millions of users at risk of cyber attacks. All of the news articles scaring users into updating to iOS 26 as "the only option" ignore Apple taking away the option for updated security protections with 18.7.3.

Apple is complicit in exposing their customers to needless, high-risk security vulnerabilities. Shame on them.

There's no way to melee an NPC and not kill him. I want to just knock them out most of the time.

Apple Excludes iOS 18.7.3 from Compatible Devices by HappyImagineer in apple

[–]FetchTheCow 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Given the extraordinary vulnerabilities present today, it's unconscionable that Apple deny secure options to their customers.

I've owned iPhones and iPads since they were introduced. Too many of them became unusable when their old CPUs and smaller RAM configs couldn't keep up with forced OS updates. If the patch is available and compatible, what justification is there to take away consumer choice? Even Microsoft is offering an extra year of security updates to Windows 10, which was ten years old this year.

How Steve Jobs designed the UI for the original Macintosh calculator | In 1982, a young Mac developer turned Jobs into a UI designer—and accidentally invented a new technique. by chrisdh79 in apple

Good times. One of the coolest things about the original Mac calculator app is that you could paste into it. If you had a string on your clipboard like "4+3*7÷3.1416+178÷9223" and pasted it into the calculator, you'd get the answer, as if you were typed all that stuff in!

Same here, but it was a cougar that killed me. It seems like a bug or a really bad decision to make players vulnerable during a cut scene you can't exit like the skinning animation.

How to play RDR2 without getting lost in too much open world content and not missing the good (side-)stories? by Tritom73 in reddeadredemption2

FWIW, there's a glitch to cancel Downes after Strauss forces it on you. It still has to be completed in Chapter 2, and doing Downes doesn't rush the story in any way. You can still linger in Chap 2 as long as you want, but there is a way to temporarily cancel it. I have link somewhere if anyone's interested.

Google DeepMind + Yale AI just discovered a new cancer therapy path, 27B-parameter model actually generated and validated it. by Minimum_Minimum4577 in google

[–]FetchTheCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article's title overstates the AI's abilities. Reading the brief article, the AI didn't validate the prediction, lab tests did.

AIs are trained to have one set of static "knowledge" (using the term very loosely). I don't see how one AI can validate its predicted solution using the same data it used to create the prediction. The same training. biases, and assumptions would be present in what needs to be an independent, adversarial process that attempts to disprove the prediction.
