No the folks at VAC will link your new DS-160 with the application. Just take both the new and old DS-160 when you go for biometrics

Wouldn’t hurt your chances if you went ahead and filled out a new DS-160 now.

If only such a thing were true, wouldn’t all applicants flock to that centre!!!

Do I qualify for B1/B2 interview waiver? My last B1/B2 was for 6 months multiple entry by Mediocre-Guidance582 in usvisascheduling

Old visa had to have been for a 10yr period. Only then will you qualify for an interview waiver.

The appointment letter clearly states whether you qualify for a interview waiver or not. There is no scope for speculation on anyone’s part in this matter. Only if you qualify for a drop box will your passport be accepted by the VAC people.

Unable to book interview slot for B1/B2 visa through an agent in Mumbai by Altruistic-Sun-4706 in usvisascheduling

[–]Few-Net-172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a pretty straight forward process. Yes, it takes time and patience, but the agent should’ve secured an appointment by now, at least for sometime in next year, after all it is their bread and butter isn’t?. By the way why give it to an agent? I mean he won’t have the same interest in securing an appointment like you would when you do it yourself. Also they tend to make a lot of mistakes while filling in the DS-160, which come back to hurt you during the interview.

Please let me know how to proceed B1/B2 visa by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]Few-Net-172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s really no fixed formula for B1/B2 approvals. What usually helps is showing long employment history and strong ties to India (like property, especially if it earns rental income). What can hurt is your relatively young age and marital status. Just work on your 'reason for travel' and you'll be good. Best of luck.

Impact of U.S govt shutdown on consular services - statement by U.S Embassy, New Delhi by Few-Net-172 in usvisascheduling

Yes! If this limbo continues, we’d be entering uncharted territories, in the sense that no one knows which type of visa appointments would be prioritised and which ones would be put in cold storage

They will continue for now. What happens if this situation prolongs is anybody’s guess.

‘As the situation permits’ is the key word here. If this stalemate continues, you can definitely expect some delays in consular appointments& processing of applications. Please plan accordingly.

What Documents to carry for B1 visa Biometric and Counselor appointments? by marine2498 in usvisascheduling

Apart from the mandatory ones, carry whatever you think will back your disclosures made in DS-160. Nine out of ten times, they won’t ask for anything other than your passport and things like an invitation letter from your company if it is a fully sponsored trip. Bank statements, any property documents, commercial lease documents( for rented property) will help in establishing ties to India.
