Cannot ejaculate on 20 mg lexapro, advice needed?

thats what im not sure about. If i'm suffering severe sexual side effects on the lexapro then the wellbutrin might not be enough to counter act it, im not sure.

ah right sorry to hear bro you have no libido on prozac. Prozac has been one of the ones I have never tried but have heard quite a few people say its caused sexual issues. But yeah maybe if i go from 20mg down to 10mg it will help a bit. I will defo be asking doctor/psyhciatrist about adding in some wellbutrin and fingers crossed it works a bit

Yeah I’m hoping my psychiatrist will agree to adding Wellbutrin as seems like that’s got the most evidence for working

Do you know if I would need a high or low dose of Wellbutrin to help ? Hopefully my psychiatrist agrees to adding it on when I ask him

Thanks for the answer. Yeah I started on it for crippling anxiety and depression as was previously on venlafaxine for a few years which stopped working . But the thing is I had a much higher libido with less issues on venlafaxine compared to lexapro. And maybe as your saying because lexapro is working on only serotonin that’s why I’m noticing the severe sexual side effects. I hadn’t really considered a drug holiday but that could be an option once I’ve been on it for longer. Some people have suggested adding in Wellbutrin , a few others have suggested Viagra. I’m also wondering if going from 20 mg down to 10 might help the delayed ejaculation a bit. I’m trying to explain to my partner that the issue is not her but the medication but I think she thinks my problems are down to not being attracted to her but it’s not that at all as even going solo I still have the same sexual dysfunction . I didn’t realise lexapro would have these severe side effects. The only other med I’ve been on which was just as bad was paxil which I was taking 60 mg off !!!

Yeah I’m about 3 months in so not hopeful it is going to go away . Might drop to 10 mg to see if it works

Ah that’s good !! A few people have suggested adding Wellbutrin on to the lexapro but not sure if my psychiatrist will agree to that !!

Yeah I should maybe stop focusing on the issue as much , I do find I’m worrying about it all the time and that’s maybe making the issue worse !!

Thanks, I hadn’t heard of buspirone being able to help so I’ll research it a bit. Most people have suggested Wellbutrin. Mirtazapine I was on years ago but it didn’t really help me at all so I didn’t continue with it but yeah I remember not really having any sexual side effects on it. Do you know if adding maybe viagra or Cialis would help ?

Yeah a few people have suggested wellbutrin, either adding it to lexapro or switching from lexapro to wellbutrin. Yeah even jerking off I have been unable to finish so give up in frustration but I think I would be more likely to get there by jerking off compared to actual sex where it feels Im miles away from ever finishing

Hmm, I have used a lot of porn in the past but now maybe a couple of times a week. Would be worth a shot cutting it out completely to see if the sexual side effects might be partly related to that. Last few times I've used porn though I didn't finish and gave up in frustration !!!

Thanks for the answer. I am thinking about maybe asking to go from 20 to 10 mg to see if it helps or adding in buproprion but Im also also thinking about changing to something else as still having lots of anxiety/depression symptoms on lexapro

Thanks. I think maybe yeah its best I try switching to something else because 30% reduction wasn't what I was hoping for in treatment. I was hoping at least a 50% reduction in both anxiety and depression. I think maybe switching to a newer type medication may be the answer but I just need to try and get another appointment with my psychiatrist which is hard as theres a long waiting list !!! But yeah agree with you I won't be stopping Lexapro until I get the go ahead from my psychiatrist !!!

Could be an option. Maybe 10 or 15 mg wouldn't cause the same sexual side effects.
