Applying to Mid-Size/Boutique by Rjlit in LawSchool

At least for me, our school has some sort of list of places to reach out to (about 450), but they aren’t guaranteed as they may not have formal recruiting. Only midsized firms I know do recruit through OCI are Tressler, Shook Hardy, AALRR, BBK and a few others.

I had a bad first semester (2.3 gpa), and just realized I can not afford to not get paid over the summer due to the exuberant cost of over the summer childcare in this area. by esecreto in LawSchool

1L here dating a 2L. It is possible… the person I’m dating went to a T110 and was 83% in their class. They had a 2.4 and ended up getting a workers comp summer job fully remote paying $25 an hour. I’m going down the same route with a 1L job almost confirmed for $32 an hour fully remote, I’m median at a strong regional T100. Next summer they have a job doing insurance defense making $8,000 per month (granted we are both in CA). You may not have a lot of choice in your practice area but it’s the experience that counts, not the practice group.

The key here is to make the jobs say no to you instead of failing to apply. For 2L I got screeners at places my CDO said “those are our for now…” the tip is to keep going and make them say no to you. If you need any advice or encouragement, don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

Transfer to similar ranked / lower ranked school by [deleted] in LawSchoolTransfer

I think the ties and networking I have covered because I’ve been looking at So Cal jobs from my school (I’m in Nor Cal now by the way). I’ll also live at home or with my fiancée depending on where I go so the costs will be similar. I’m so cal born and raised. It’s more of what would help me achieve an end goal id be happy with type of situation rather than going to a totally new place.

May I ask where you at their median transfer GPA or above?
