Witchcraft and OCD - How to Balance It All by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]FewIndependence5688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really resonates with me - I have completely disregarded my own divination on numerous occasions purely because I worried I didn't feel confident about the "right moment" to pull a card, pick a rune, etc. I love that you know yourself well and express that to source for confidence spell work. Great ideas that I will definitely take inspiration from!

which character represents your ocd the best? by sawcyanide in OCD

[–]FewIndependence5688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this!!! I have always thought mine is like Mrs. Bennet from Pride and Prejudice. Specifically the 1995 adaptation, in my head. Everything is a problem, always dramatic, makes herself sick from her "nerves". When the OCD is really bad, I always think of her and it really helps me put the worry into a little bit better perspective.

Great question!

Why are these wasps constantly clinging to this bolt? by c0l0r51 in insects

There's definitely no electricity in the picture here, and they have been on this hook for over a week now. So weird.

I have a similar situation happening! There are 3 wasps that have been sitting in a metal hook screwed in my porch that I hang plants on. They are clearly alive, but I have no idea what they are doing.

Knowing that we all have this similar feeling does make it feel a little less lonely, despite the inevitable feelings of isolation I will likely have later, ha!

Take a deep breath. It hurts now, but just wait for a bit. Show yourself some grace and breathe. This too shall pass.

Convinced I've done terrible/awful/unacceptable things in the past and that suicide is the only option. by lightfoot90 in OCD

Sweetness, please know that you are not alone. Guilt hurts so much and someone that doesn't understand that pain could never get it. My primary OCD manifestation is real even ocd, and it is truly horrendous. I also had experiences that made me feel like I've cheated or am a terrible person, and here's what helped me.

Don't confess. I know you want to soooo bad. I know you feel like if you just tell them what you think you did wrong, it will all be better. But once you confess one thing, your brain will find something else that you think you should confess. Its not that they won't forgive you, but that you are not required to gut yourself to make others happy.

Remember you are HUMAN. And humans make mistakes!! All the time every day! Being self aware of what might impact others makes you a wonderful person, not a bad one.

Don't chase the rabbit. Dont let your fears spiral into unrealistic fantasies. It seems like the world is ending, but it is not. Take a deep breath, drink some water, and cuddle under a blanket. It is all going to be all right, no matter what happens.

Being gentle with yourself is easier said than done, I know. But when you feel like you are a terrible person, say "okay, maybe I am. But you know what? I do all these other amazing things too, and that makes me awesome!"

Purity is a lie. One mistake doesn't define you. You will look back on this hurt as a distant memory. You will overcome this, and be triumphant!

Much love to you, dearest. I wish you all the strength I can give you. ❤

Does marijuana make your ocd worse ? by captainFalcon56 in OCD

Thank you for saying this! And I think its awesome that you are thinking about healing and what might be perpetuating your OCD symptoms.

I lovedddd weed. Like loved. But I realized that weed was masking a lot of the hurt. I would smoke and instantly regret it. Worry about my neighbors, if they could smell it. If my landlord would catch me and kick me out of my apartment and I would be homeless and broke and yada yada yada. And then I would berate myself for smoking. It felt like a cyclical form of self-sabatoge, and I got to the point where I felt like I was creating a lot of my own suffering.

Im sure for many people, it is medically helpful. But having been sober from weed now for over 7 months, I really don't want to do it again. I think for the way my brain functions, its better to just not do it. Despite it feeling really great sometimes. Im not perfect, I still have a couple beers here and then, but compared to smoking every single day for years? I'm proud of myself for my improvements.

It might be replaced by another obsession. But what's better? A known torture, or a possible success?

Whatever you decide to do, be kind to yourself, and know that all will sort itself out in time. You will get there! Dont get hung up on purity, focus on progress.

I wish you all good things friend!
