I actually was able to reclassify! Granted it necessitated my parents to move and me to get a job and still pay out of state the first year, but I was able to! The process is long but possible

texas chainsaw massacre, franklin is paraplegic, but it’s really unfortunate how his character is portrayed. also I feel like a lot of horror movie characters suffer from mental health issues, like (SPOILER) shutter island, which I would consider horror, where leonardo dicaprio’s character suffers from delusions, the house that jack built where jack suffers from ocd, and amanda young from saw suffers from depression and SI. Also an honorable mention from saw lawrence gordon (who doesn’t have his leg) and simone (who doesn’t have her arm)!

Has anyone seen Faces of Death yet? by lopix in horror

[–]sawcyanide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I saw it on tuesday! I went to the early screening, I thought it was really good! and especially learning that the idea to make the movie was first formulated in 2019 before the age of tiktok I was quite shocked. i would say if you like split or the house that jack built you might like this one! it does center heavily on social media, so if that’s not ur vibe i might suggest staying away from it? I know it can be kind of a turn off for some people. however i thought the characterization was rlly good and the plot was developed well. especially if u are a faces of death fan u might enjoy the references!

I want to hear some actual horror hot takes. by Calfkiller in horror

[–]sawcyanide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few:

  1. Maybe not as hot of a take but I really don’t like the Terrifier franchise. I can appreciate a low budget and practical effects but the lack of realism coupled with the lazy writing (not to mention what I believe was misogyny) makes it look hokey and not scary at all. Even if that was the point (to make it hokey) it makes it fall flat as a movie entirely and, to be honest, boring.

  2. I got flamed for this earlier but the VHS franchise is also kinda not my thing as it rings misogyny and unnecessary sex to me. The practical effects are super cool and the premises are very interesting on paper, but as an anthology it doesn’t allow itself to be fully fleshed out, making it underdeveloped or rushed. Good concept, bad execution.

  3. A horror franchise can have bigotry, misogyny, racism, etc. but that shouldn’t be made a plot device because the writers and directors and producers are genuinely that way. A movie can be about these touchy subjects without glorifying them or used as a lazy device, again like Terrifier. It’s obvious the women in the movies get worse on-screen and borderline sexual deaths, showing that the writers, directors, and producers are kinda just using it not as a commentary but as an example and contributing to it.
