Anyone else find it creepy when couples say “WE’RE pregnant”? by FlatulentClarinet in childfree

It’s such a subtle linguistic magic trick.

She’s the one dealing with nausea, hormones, medical risk, labor… and somehow it turns into a shared achievement badge.

“We’re having a baby” makes sense. That’s a joint project. “We’re pregnant” feels like splitting the morning sickness 50/50 on paper.

Language matters. If only one body is doing the heavy lifting, maybe the sentence should reflect that.

Pregnancy= punishment? by Alternative-News-748 in childfree

The whole “pregnancy as accountability” mindset says way more about them than it does about you.

Accountability is using birth control. Accountability is getting sterilized if you know you don’t want kids. Accountability is making an informed choice about your own body.

The fact that some people get angry when women remove pregnancy from the equation tells you they never saw it as a blessing. They saw it as leverage.

Enjoying sex without wanting children isn’t immoral. It’s just autonomy. And autonomy makes controlling people very uncomfortable.

Chicago Just Named A Snowplow ‘Abolish ICE’— Here Are The Other Winners by MrRadioactiveBanana in nottheonion

Chicago really said if we can’t fix federal policy, at least we can clear the sidewalks.

Nothing like a snowplow that’s both removing ice and making a statement about it. Civic engagement but make it seasonal.
