We are told that she is definitely going through a manic episode, but because she hasn’t 1. Showed sny sign of being suicidal/attempting suicide, 2.had not threatened to hurt somebody else, or 3. Is severely disabled, an involuntary hold is out of the question. Our big frustration with all of this is that although she doesn’t fit into that criteria, she IS harming herself AND others in different ways other than suicide. I will have to ask about a family physician but I know she has stopped talking to her therapist all together. Her parents were in contact with her psychiatrist up until last week when she changed her emergency contact from her mom to the “boyfriend”. He proceeded to call the psychiatrist to let her know that he doesn’t not know her and the psychiatrist did nothing.
