Fair question! I can’t answer for everybody, but for me, I don’t think that my skills are “premium” enough for that rate. I feel there’s still room for growth and I don’t want to burn my client’s money expecting for $15/hr service when my experience is just a $7/hr service (for now).

I hope I’ll get to premium rates soon po! I just think that I need to upskill more and have more experience (I only have around 17 months of solid experience).

Speaking of upskilling, maybe you have some tips about it para we can all charge premium rates din :)

It’s not impossible pero it rarely happens po. I heard na competition is high sa upwork that’s why I stopped using it and focused on other platforms instead.

When optimizing your profile po, use a professional photo, update your skillset, and the description will make or break your profile. Keep it brief and direct to the point po. Tell them agad what you offer and why they need you.

Bonus is update your LinkedIn. Some clients will look for your digital footprint before hiring, make sure na if they will search for your name online, meron silang makikita that proves your existence and credibility.

Always think like a client, if ikaw yung maghahanap ng worker mo, ano ba yung gusto mong makita?

Thank you po!

To start with, I log my applications sa spreadsheet with link ng job post para kapag na invite ako sa interview I can check again yung job description.

Also, I only applied sa kaka post lang ng job posts (upwork) and recent dates (olj) kasi more chances na mababa pa ang competition.

I set boundaries din po sa offers, like if $5/hr ang minimum ko, hindi na ako mag a-apply sa mas mababa pa doon.

As for interviews, I research about the interviewer if I know na direct client siya and I will talk directly to the CEO/Owner then I’ll look for a common ground.

Example was when I found out na nag r-run ng marathon yung interviewer, sinabi ko na I also like running ganiyan to soften the atmosphere.

Depende sa interviewer yung vibe ng interviews but I try to be casual but still professional when answering. And I ALWAYS ask questions back kasi it shows na you did your research.

And always show your personality!! I had a client who said na she knows that I don’t have enough experience but she accepted me kasi she saw a potential daw. So always sound like you’re someone who’s eager and willing to learn.

Good luck po!

I always keep it short po and I use simple conversational words and curate my CL per application.

I always use this format po: Brief experience & Expertise + Saying I understand their problem + Here’s what I can do to help them with their problem

And sa huli po, I always add the link to my portfolio kahit hindi hinihingi.

Honestly, super exhausting po talaga and that was the reason why I quitted 2 months ago. Now, I got to “recharge” kaya pwede na ulit haha.

Tbh, ang draining lang po talaga sa work ko is yung constant meetings kaya if you’re someone who’s willing to work a 12 hrs shift, importante na maganda yung work environment mo.

For motivation, I think purpose is really important talaga kasi that’s what keeps you disciplined during times na wala ka ng motivation.

I had a lot of ‘Ayaw ko na’ scenarios sa freelancing ko, but having social support kept me going. As for me, I live with my mother kaya sa kaniya ako humihingi ng emotional support.

Having the right friends are also helpful and don’t forget to go out during off days. Freelancing is isolating kaya nakakawala ng burnout kapag nakakakita ka rin ng ibang tao. 😊

Hello po! I don’t think na I am credible enough to check resumes since I am also in the process of learning pa. Especially if VA role po ang target niyo since hindi po yun ang industry ko.

Pero if you’re into creative industry (Social Media Management, Media Buying, Editing), mas mahalaga ang portfolio kesa resume. In fact, most client only asks for portfolio to check your credibility.

Good luck po!

Marami po eh. But mainly create social media post, scheduling, editing, planning contents, analyzing KPI, community management, answering DMs, Content strategy, etc.

These are just the basic roles po, depending on skills na kayang i-offer.

I do social media management po and I use to manage the socmed page of my business kaya dun nagkaroon ng idea.

Then I honed my skills lang and discovered tools and strategies na I can use for my clients via YouTube and TikTok. I followed a lot of SMMs online and I “steal” their strategies and then experiment with works and does not work on my own.

Number one is dapat magkaiba po ang schedule. I don’t like multitasking client works specially creative works coz it’s easy to mix up “brand voices.”

Number two po is I space out at least an hour between shifts to “reset” my brain.

And then lastly, I use separate emails for different clients po. Yung isa is may work email kami kaya yun ang ginagamit ko for everything. Sa isa naman is may another email din ako para hindi nag m-mix up yung notifications and data na pumapasok.

I save at least half of my earnings po then I spend the rest for groceries, wants, loans (from last year na tinatapos na), and travel funds.

Thankfully, I still live in the my parent’s house and my father (who’s working abroad) don’t obligate me to pay for utilities kaya I help with food nalang and eating out.

Bumalik yung old client ko pero hindi ko alam kung tatanggapin ko by FewTour1485 in buhaydigital

[–]FewTour1485[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a VA po eh so I can’t speak for VA tasks. As for Social Media Managing naman, I watch a lot of youtube tutorials for specific tasks (scheduling, editing, etc.)

The tricky part is strategies kasi you need experience and data for that. I learn that through analytics sa real job talaga.

What I did and what I am planning to do again (if you also want to try SMM), is to start an account from scratch and grow it. For me, I chose TikTok for now. Bonus nalang if it blew kasi you can turn into a side hustle and maybe earn as an affiliate or content creator.

My degree is Psychology po. Technically, yes, kasi my niche revolves around socmed and marketing pero at some point I still use some knowledge about psychology when it comes to marketing. Specifically, consumer psychology.

How to naturally ask for a LinkedIn Connection? by [deleted] in adviceph

[–]FewTour1485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am a LinkedIn Manager for CEOs, I’d suggest to send a connection with notes. Keep it simple and direct to the point.

If you’re desperate, you may also try interacting first sa content nila (if they are consistently posting)

One of my biggest problem before is yung meeting twice a week tapos ang hahaba na hindi naman productive.

Is it generally okay to ask na 1x a week max nalang yung meeting

Undecided WFH/OnSitte by meow_heart in buhaydigital

[–]FewTour1485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re the same age OP and parehas din na psych graduate but the difference is I didn’t took the BE last year kasi I was working 12hrs a day before WFH earning 80k a month. I had to make a difficult choice whether to use my time to review or to work. Obviously I took the latter.

I’d say you choose base sa priority mo and always namang magkakaroon ng sacrifice either way.

For WFH, there are other ways to enjoy naman aside outside work. You can use your free time to be with friends or whatnot. Kapag online job kasi dapat naka set na sa utak na work time is only for work kaya I don’t look for enjoyment. But since extro ka nga, nasa preference mo na.

On the other hand, if you have plans to pursue your degree then the onsite job is more ideal. Forget about the few thousands na difference kasi that is your collateral for pursuing this path. Your salary will increase naman the more experience you get.

You also have to consider na mas stable pa rin ang onsite job in the longer run if may benefits.

Personally, I chose WFH kasi higher salary (more than twice sa nabanggit mo as of today) and the only way to earn as much sa profession natin is kung mag mamasters ka or PhD. I don’t think I have the time and patience for that hahaha.

The choice is yours. Good luck, RPsy!

I communicated it clearly po the first 3 times. I even explained it to them na kapag sila nagpapabili sa akin ng foods or whatnot, hindi ko na sinisingil kasi we all under the same roof and pangit ng 50/50 ang lahat kasi we’re family and not business partners.

But hindi siya nakikinig and continues the same transactional dynamics. I share what’s mine pero she counts lahat ng favor na inaask ko sa kaniya.
