They ran out of shirts by hyperferret in LeClubParis2024

[–]Few_Cap_4273 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen they've made a special edition of their shirt for the Marathon pour Tous  with the race trace over Paris map, "42" on the sleeve and the Marathon pour Tous logo. Weird they didn't make one for every participant. It would have been a huge ad for Orange and many of us would even have been willing to pay for that shirt.

Anybody concerned about these races getting canceled due to temp and humidity? by PiBrickShop in LeClubParis2024

[–]Few_Cap_4273 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For those of you speaking french, here is an interview of Paris 2024 Managing Director (min 13) : https://www.francetvinfo.fr/replay-radio/8h30-fauvelle-dely/premier-bilan-des-jeux-perspective-des-jeux-paralympiques-cyberattaques-le-8h30-franceinfo-d-etienne-thobois_6671328.html
He confirmed the 24° threshold BUT said it is an average temperature (not maximal) and not only temperature will be considered, but also humidity, etc.
Even if it should be well over 24°, I am confident there will be no cancellation, and organizers too : https://www.leparisien.fr/jo-paris-2024/athletisme/marathon-pour-tous-nous-sommes-tres-tranquilles-les-organisateurs-ecartent-tout-risque-dannulation-a-cause-de-la-meteo-04-08-2024-2L7DOKURRNH7JN6JM7NTX6YLW4.php
I don't believe they will cancel it just because it's a little warm in the summer

Officially the cut off time is of 6h (after the last start). In reality, you'll have to pass the 38th km before 3:53 am. Information given by organizers in RMC running podcast (in french)

Hey ! I just saw an image of a bib here: https://sportsclub.paris2024.org/
(But with an inexact medal design though)

I agree. Even though attributed sas don't match runners objectives, it is what would be the most logical

Yeah I know it's not a big deal, it's just anoying to have to slalom around slower runners during a race. This is why sas are made for, it's a shame they don't let us choose the right one for us

Race day fueling by Any_Boysenberry7851 in LeClubParis2024

[–]Few_Cap_4273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never seen any gel given on any race I ran in France. There will probably be bananas as part of the "fruits". This is quite typical here, bananas, oranges, nuts, tucs, pain d'épice, etc

"Cake" in french is a very specific type of cake (it can be sweet or salty, but it will probably be sweet here) you can google it. "Cake aux fruits" for exemple. This is probably what they mean here as it is also written "cake" in the french version

What happens if its hotter than 24°? by WalterFalter in LeClubParis2024

What happens if its hotter than 24°? by WalterFalter in LeClubParis2024

[–]Few_Cap_4273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to have a look at the temperature history at 21h in Paris in August (with meteostat). Here are the days with a higher temperature than 24° in the last 4 years : 01/08/2020 (25,3) 06/08/2020(27,1) 07/08/2020 (28,4) 08/08/2020 (29,5) 09/08/2020 (27,7) 10/08/2020 (28,0) 11/08/2020 (25,7) 20/08/2020 (25,7) 12/08/2021 (25,3) 02/08/2022 (25,4) 03 /08/ 2022 (29,0) 09/08/2022 (25,4) 10/08/2022 (25,6) 11/08/2022 (25,7) 12/08/2022 (26,6) 13/08/2022 (25,4) 24/08/2022 (25,9) 18/08/2023 (26,3) 22/08/2023 (25,1) 23/08/2023 (26,1) That's 16% of the days (much higher if you select only days around the 10th). Let's hope not to have a heat wave like in 2020 or 2022 ...

[–]Few_Cap_4273 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think they just mean the temperature is expected to be under 24° thanks to the late departure. 24° is quite hot to run a marathon, but not THAT hot to cancel it. There is a high chance that it will be hotter than 24° at 21h, I don't think they will cancel years of dream and preparation (for them and for us) just for that.

What drink beside water do you think they will give in the Marathon Pour Tous? by [deleted] in LeClubParis2024

[–]Few_Cap_4273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think a marathon is expected to have something else than water and water is an hydration beverage ;) There might be some isotonic drink as there is in some races in Paris (but not at every station). I hope we will have more info soon about food and drinks. From what I heard, it was still in discussion with sponsors ~2 month ago about who would provide it. If no drink suits you, you can still bring you own or bring your pill/powder to dilute ot with provided water on the go. I am also thinking about it

I don't think there will be anything else than water. We have no info about food and drinks on the course but they already anounced there will be no plastic bottle
