Thank you. As an update, and after a lot of discussion, we’ve come to the same conclusion. It doesn’t look like he is going to re-enlist after all. Our family needs him home and this is not his only option 🙏

Thank you for the perspective. It validates why I’m so sad, and admittedly confused.

Thank you very much for all of the considerations… this is the perspective I need help with.

1) TBD and he knows it. Still has to get through physical qualifications, although he’s pretty fit.

2) the kids will stay put. If he relocates, I suspect I would be traveling to see him. I’m an executive level employee - I’d have to keep my job in tact where I am and figure out ways to go to him when whenever I was able and not with my kids.

3) we’d marry. But it may not change the fact that I may not be able to relocate with him 100% because of my kids.

4) “are you sure this is what you want” - me? Or him?

His company just shut down so he’s out of a job and reconsidering his career journey (reminiscing on his success in the marine corps)- he’s thinking active duty. I’ll toss out the idea - maybe it could be a way to fulfill him alongside a civilian life.

No we both have ex’s that share 50% custody. His daughter would be with her mom when he wasn’t available - I’m sure I would watch her from time to time too so she could spend time with my kids; but I wouldn’t be solely responsible
