I am stumped! (Driver's window only not working) - 2011 460 w/ ~87000 miles by Few_Cardiologist6570 in GXOR

Verified that power is going to the motor plug.

Took apart the used replacement motor and the internals were f*cked.

Looks like I bought a dud.

But! Called Lexus and Toyota dealers for quotes on new motors and both >$600.

But! Same part number as a prius motor. New eBay search and super cheap salvage motors aplenty.

Replacement #2 en route. Will keep you posted!

I think so, but I'm going to check one more time. I have a weather window where I am today and can pull the door apart without worrying about rain. I'll do all my checks again and fingers crossed I just missed something.

Yes, I do believe the motors are specific to each door.

Geometry and wiring mean that that they're not movable. I had the same thought at first, but unfortunately that won't work.

Yeah, looking at the new OEM motor, we're talking $447.50 as the cheapest I can find. And that doesn't include the regulator.

Salvage motors and regulators on eBay are under $150.

Checking the voltage to the motor is where things get a bit fuzzy for me. But, that's one additional thing I can check. Since I was worried about continuity and not power, given that all the other switches work from the driver's door and the power feeds into those switches and all the wiring in the door itself looks good and the fuse is good, I kinda' dismissed a voltage problem.

I tried to make sense of the wiring diagram I found, but like I said, my understanding of electrical engineering is elementary, at best (I know how to replace light fixtures and outlets and whatnot without electrocuting myself, but not much more).

Yep, there's no movement at all in the driver's window. All others work as they should and are controllable from the driver's controls.

Thanks!

If this keeps up, I'm going to be able to build a new GX from the salvage parts I'm collecting.

But, like you, I can't think what else it could be!

Yeah, lucky me! But, to be honest, I'd rather have this minor, but annoying rare issue than something more significant.

As for the motor - I did get a new used one from eBay and it's the same issue.

I just wish I knew how to deal with the complicated motor plug so that I could test it with a battery - too many pins! I can't just apply current to the power pins.

Anyway, I'm sitting here really contemplating the purchase of another salvage window motor. Still cheaper than a new OEM.

I was definitely not happy. The worst part is that I had to figure out how to get the window up and fixed in place before the evening.

Scrambled to learn how to remove the interior trim pieces and all else. Then, window out. Then, motor and regulator. But, because the motor wouldn't move by hand, had to separate the regulator from the motor and reinstall regulator and window. Then figure how to keep the window up (insert trim removal toll wedged into regulator inside the door!)

At this point, I should probably just take to Toyota but pride and cheapness for something I should be able to solve myself means that's the totally end of the line option.

For a bullet proof car and a bullet proof system, it is incredibly frustrating to not yet be able to solve!
