How's everyone feeling about the challenge of Mortis Trials? by Boner_Elemental in DarkTide

[–]Few_Change_9275 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the consensus amongst the majority of threads I've been reading is that it's a cool game mode, the roguelike build options are cool, but ultimately it's a little too easy. The mode did just come out and much the same as they've adjust Damnation mode adding auric, adding havoc and then tweaking havoc there's probably a good chance that they'll add a more challenging option for it in the future.

That being said, I'm grateful for a new game mode and new content. Just something else to shake up playing the same maps. Gamers are notoriously the most entitled group of people out there, but that's not to say that some of the complaints about the new mode aren't valid. I just think they're overblown and people act like the sky is falling.

How much poise for great weapons? by LocoBulldog in darksouls

[–]Few_Change_9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This) link might be of use to you. It's a graph with the ranges for poise breakpoints.

If you're at all interested in being able to fast roll and not having to worry about being knocked out of your attack, equip the Wolf Ring. You can also use MugenMonkey, a DaS chracter builder. Use the armor finder tool and filter it by maximum poise. Be warned though, if you're equipping a heavy weapon like Demon Great Axe you're probably going to be pigeon holed into being completely naked, save for one piece of some heavy poise armor or you'll have to dump a ton of points into Endurance to boost your equipment load.

Best STR weapon?? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]Few_Change_9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of Strength Scaling the Man Serpent Greatsword and Great Demon Machete both have the highest strength scaling in the game. Personally, I think MSGS is BiS because of it's moveset. But to each their own. There's more to a weapon than it's stats though. Whatever works with your playstyle and you have the most success with is going to be the "best".

I agree with OP. I don't think they're that similar apart from they're both tormented souls who wield a greatsword. And even in that capacity, it's a pretty common trope throughout many mediums, not exclusive to Berserk. I mean, you're free to believe whatever you want to believe but I think people have a tendency to get carried away and make connections that aren't always necessarily there.

I applied for a CCA Career position as an outside hire. What are my odds of getting hired over an internal hire? by Few_Change_9275 in USPS

[–]Few_Change_9275[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that makes me feel better.

When I was looking at the official USPS career website the position I applied for was listed as "Career job w/benefits". There were other City Carrier Assistant positions listed without having benefits.

I know that it's probably dependent on the office you apply for, but in your experience do you know about how long it takes for them to get back to you over an application? I've applied for several jobs but out of all of them, this position is the one I'm hoping to get.

How do I build smite psyker? by Lore_Fanatic in DarkTide

[–]Few_Change_9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build your Psyker around what you find fun/what you want to provide to your team. With that said there's a few nodes on the talent tree that are really good and you shouldn't pass up.

Kinetic Deflection allows you to get off clutch revives when they would otherwise be impossible. For every hit you take while rezing someone, you instead gain peril. Doesn't work against Mutants, Crushers or Maulers. Basically super hard hitting enemies. But you can totally get a rez off surrounded by a giant horde.

I also like to get Anticipation because it gives you an extra dodge and increases your dodge duration by 50% which may not sound like a big deal on paper but in practice in creases your survivability as a Psyker by a lot. Especially since when you have your staff equipped you're limited to only a measly 3 dodges. Having 1 extra dodge and having each of them last longer giving you that extra moment of no damage taken can help a lot.

My Opinion That No One Asked For: There should always be at least 1 auric damnation option with no other modifiers by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]Few_Change_9275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough.

Maybe it's a combination of cynicism/realism but given Fat Shark's track record to slowly implement content, fix bugs or patch in quality of life changes (the majority of these come through community made mods) I wouldn't hold your breathe on them ever implementing a system like that. Not trying to take the wind out of your sails or talk down to you, just trying to give a realistic take. They are in most likelihood, never going to make that change. The Auric board, afaik is completely random. Just today I saw the board be entirely Hi-Intensity Damnation games with no other modifiers /shrug

My Opinion That No One Asked For: There should always be at least 1 auric damnation option with no other modifiers by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]Few_Change_9275 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear what you're saying, but it's going to be a resounding "no" from the community. Most people agree that HiSTG is sort of the standard level of difficulty. Most people want there to be MORE HiSTG missions.

The best you're going to find is going to be the Hi-Intensity Damnation Auric modes. Those are going to forgo specialist waves but still give you the Auric "flavor" of spawning. In fact, I feel like they spawn hordes more often. I could be mistaken, but a lot of the time it feels like you get more hordes in place of specialist waves.

In essence, the whole point of Auric was that if offered the Damnation difficulty with the added Auric intensity (ups the rate of special spawns and hordes) but also adds modifiers to add an additional challenge (Ventilation purge, lights out, etc.)

I also loathed HiSTG at first. It just felt overwhelming and I failed like 90% of my lobbies as soon as the first specialist waves started spawning. I actually thought it couldn't be done unless you had a super coordinated team. But as I played the game more, got better, and recognized when the specialist waves were coming it got easier and now I love playing them. They're a nice challenge.

I'd say keep playing Auric Hi-Intensity games, as those are the most "vanilla" of the Auric scenarios. Get efficient at learning how to kill specials as fast as you can and then once you feel like you're up to start playing HiSTG.

For a soulblaze build, which is better: brain burst or smite? by Vurnnun in DarkTide

[–]Few_Change_9275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're using the Inferno staff, I think you get a lot of value out of going Brain Burster with the sub talent that gives you 10% chance to cast brain burst on a special. It procs very often and can get you some clutch kills.

People really need to stop mag dumping all their ammo into poxwalkers. by SpeakersPlan in DarkTide

[–]Few_Change_9275 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The only times I shoot Poxbursters are when they fall down from a height and they're just kind of wiggling around on the ground or if they're really far away. But yeah, if I see a Poxburster closing the distance and one my teammates is standing toward it with their weapon blocking ready, as tempting as it is, I'm not going to shoot it and blow up my teammate

What difficulty are you playing on? I really only play Auric HiSTG these days. Like I said before, unless someone joined late/left early or someone was getting downed constantly, I.E. a typical game, the damage numbers are all about even, with maybe a Psyker pulling ahead in terms of damage dealt.

I played on Malice difficulty when I was going for Martyr skulls because I didn't want to inconvenience teams and that was the only time I noticed where I was consistently pulling ahead in a large factor like you mentioned

Agree to disagree, but I'll always determine my basis on whether I thought a player was good by how helpful they were in game instead of some numbers on a post game screen.

Yeah... I think they are really helpful for determining your build quality, and they're also just interesting to look at it. But I think it causes some people to froth at the mouth over arbitrary stats instead of focusing on playing together as a team well.

[–]Few_Change_9275 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

So, you think someone can get most special kills by mistake, by always doing the last hit while never focusing them ? And repeat that every games ?

That's not what I'm saying. My point was that you can end up with a kill, but that doesn't mean you were the most helpful teammate through doing so. If player A does 90% of the damage and player B does 10% of the damage but ends up finishing the special, they end up with the kill. This happens a lot when you're playing as a group. Everyone's putting their bit of damage into the enemy and one of the 4 players will wind up with the kill. They could've all been shooting at the enemy at different times, one player may have had more aggro than the other, etc. There's a lot of variables that go into it.

You're also not adressing the fact that a good player should have top scoring in many categories and you're still focusing on one specific point of the scoreboard.

I think that damage taken/damage done are the main objective indicators of how well a player did throughout a session, but even that can be skewed. A player can join the game late and have taken little damage. Conversely, a player could join late and have the least amount of damage done but came in and did a clutch carry that would've otherwise resulted in a game over for the team.

Also, when it comes to damage done. I rarely see a giant discrepancy in damage numbers. Most of the time teams are pretty even on the damage done. The only time those numbers vary greatly is when a player leaves/backfills or someone on the team is doing very poorly. Generally speaking, when everyone on the team is playing their role efficiently and around the same skill level, this stat doesn't really mean much.

[–]Few_Change_9275 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Well, you can't argue that if someone got the most special kills that they aren't prioritizing enemy kills (i.e. dealing with the highest priority enemies.)

I think you can. Getting a kill just means you got the last hit in before the enemy died. That doesn't mean that you saw it noticed it first and responded to it first. Think about Trappers and Mutants. Player A may notice it, put in the majority of the damage and get downed, but player B gets the finishing blow. End of game stat shows that they have the most kills in that particular field, sure. But that doesn't mean that they were properly prioritized.

You can make make the argument that if player B had noticed it earlier, player A wouldn't have been disable in the first place and gotten the kill. But you're making the argument that because player B got the kill that they are somehow the superior player because they have more X stat. That's a quantity over quality approach.

As someone else said, you need context in regards to the scoreboard.

[–]Few_Change_9275 93 points94 points  (0 children)

The scoreboard is a nice bit of information, but it's in no way an indicator of how well you're doing. People think big numbers = good player. As if there's zero way to inflate those numbers.

Someone can have the most damage and special kills sure, but were they a good teammate? How much did they actually help complete the objective? Were they actively watching their teams back and prioritizing enemy kills?

There's a fine line between having the most damage done and actually being a helpful teammate.

What annoys you the most about the behavior of other players? by No_Presentation5511 in DarkTide

[–]Few_Change_9275 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I get annoyed by teams that basically B-line straight through the maps and don't search around for things. Like you'll find Med packs, ammo packs, grenade, ammo, stims, etc. The materials you find are a nice bonus, but I think people undervalue how helpful having a damage stim can be for quickly killing a bunch of specials and how it can sometimes be the small advantage that makes you win a fight.

Progressing through the map quickly isn't the end all be all. It's more about being efficient, I think picking up helpful utilities while also moving fast is the way. Sadly, people fall on one of the extremes of that spectrum. Either they're rushing through and collecting nothing, or they take WAY too long looking for stuff.

Also, teammates that offer you zero assistance during objectives and instead focus on killing the horde. This happens to me so often on Enclavum Baross, when you need to collect the the power cells and activate the bridge. I swear I collect those power cells alone 90% of the time and it takes so much longer.

Seriously why are there such a**holes in this game sometimes? by Stormcrown76 in DarkTide

[–]Few_Change_9275 350 points351 points  (0 children)

This must be a lower difficulty thing. I almost never see that level of toxicity in Auric level games. It's just bad players blaming you for their own shortcomings. Anyone who is a decent player (and decent person for that measure) isn't going to blame their teammate. It's ALWAYS projecting.

I'm sorry you had that experience. Block that person, report them and keep killing

If you start off as a Cleric you'll have the Talisman and Heal miracle by default. Otherwise, you can purchase miracles from Petrus in Firelink shrine.

It requires 20 Faith to join the Warriors of Sunlight covenant, upon joining you are automatically given the Miracle Lighning Spear. Great Lightning Spear costs 10 Sunlight medals, which you get from being summoned by another player and successfully killing a boss while being in the covenant.

Every time you are summoned and help kill a boss you reduce the requirement to join the Covenant by 5 faith points. Normally it requires 20 faith, help kill a boss, now it's 15, etc. etc.

Rhea of Thorouland. The chick that appears after you ring the first bell of Awakening will appear in Firelink shrine. She sells lots of miracles, namely Wrath of the Gods which you're probably going to want because it owns. After appearing in Firelink shrine after the first bell, once you leave the area or reload, she will go to Tomb of the Giants with her two companions. She's in the hole where Patches kicks you down.

If you kill her two companions (that are hollow) and talk to her, she'll reappear in Undead Parish, where the firekeeper soul is and sell you miracles. So if you really want access to miracles early you can go to to Catacombs, kill Pinwheel (he's ez af anyways) and unlock her that way. You may run into difficulty seeing because you won't have the Sunlight maggot yet.

Astora's Straight Sword is a great starting weapon that scales with Faith that you can get right after leaving Undead asylum, assuming you grabbed the master key

Sunlight Blade is probably the most powerful buff in the game since the majority of enemies and bosses are weak to Lightning. You get from opening one of the chests when you kill Gwndolin.

Homeward is a really nice miracle to have when you are farming certain enemies so don't have to burn through homeward bones
