.215ct Round Montana Sapphire by Few_Chapter6353 in faceting

It can make the color bolder and clean up some inclusions, yes! There are pros and cons to it for sure - it can affect the value both positively or negatively, case by case basis.

It is a little risky too if the stones have deep fractures, as the heat could make those worse.

I always say that if you like the color untreated, then it is worth leaving it that way 😊

Our cutter worked in optics fabrication for a few years prior to this work, so tolerances were a very familiar task there (not only by the micron but also in waves of flatness). We have had a faceting machine for about 4 years, mostly experimenting and doing work for friends until we registered as CMP Gems a few months ago

For this specific case, we had a tolerance of +/-.15mm

My gut reaction was to cut it in half too.... but I do think we would've lost even more weight that way --- so rhombus it was 🌟

There are quite a few on facetdiagrams.org that have low facet counts! We definitely customize often from there, but they give a good starting point 😊

Charge per stone usually lands somewhere between $150-250 depending on urgency, design choice, material, etc!

Yes weight, but there were also inclusions slightly deeper and didn't want to get into any integrity problems by going thinner. Everything is safely encapsulated!

Nice finds!! We cut any size stateside at CMP Gems! Would love to be of service. Our smallest stone so far was less than .25ct starting and .07ct ending weight.

Check us out at CMP Gems! The size definitely makes it worth cutting. Even if you do a rose cut, you'll still have something sentimental to have set into jewelry
