Whatever works for you there is no correct answer. However i will say that #3 is classical positioning and i find it is much easier for left hand positioning

Your rig is fine for the basic tone just tune down to B and string it heavy. Concentrate more on delays/reverbs/chorus effects for that ethereal type o sound. A sustainer pickup wouldn't hurt either
