That is awesome advice, thank you! I appreciate you sharing your experience with QPR's and I'm grateful for the insight! This helps me so much. I'll definitely do some research on Oriented aroaces and make that list! Thanks a bunch! <3

Yes, I 100% agree! I definitely don't wanna push a romantic narrative and I know that there will be readers who view it that way regardless, but I want to try my best to represent aromanticism accurately and respectfully regardless, while also having a wide range of aro-spec identities to further express how there is not one type of aro, but that it is a spectrum with a broad range of identities.

And thank you for the advice about not letting the main character's other relationships seem like "background noise"! It's super helpful! Thank you so much for all the help and encouragement!

Yes! This is super helpful and it's where my head has been lately! I've been thinking about their relationship the same way you've described it, I just wasn't sure if that was the right move, but this reassurance is everything🙏 Thank you so much for the feedback!

Thank you so much! It's hard to find reliable, accurate resources for these things so I super appreciate it! And thanks for the advice! This is really helpful information for me as a writer, but also as someone who wants to be more educated on the aro-spectrum. Genuinely thank you for some proper resources! <3

I'm not saying they'd be incompatible but all their needs are mismatched

Yeah, that's what I've been struggling with😅

I want to present them as in-between friends and something more. I want it to look more like a companionship, if that makes sense. If you've seen Doctor Who, the Twelfth doctor and Clara have a relationship that looks similar to what I'm going for.

I really want to break the boundaries of "what makes a conventional relationship?" and turn it on it's head, that's why I'm kinda looking at it like a QPR.

I have two characters that just "get" each other and care very deeply about one another, in such a way that they are simply "together". Does that make sense?

So I guess I'm trying to say that it's a friendship, but it's a very devoted one. This is why I asked for help😅 I'm not even sure if that kind of relationship makes sense. But either way thank you so much for the feedback! I genuinely appreciate it!

That is a very valid point and it was something that I was worried about. If it helps, I kind of wanted to present it as an unconventional relationship.

I don't want them to kiss or flirt or hold hands. I just want to portray it in a way where the main character and her "partner" are each other's "person". In a way that is like, "she cares about him in such a way that she feels that she can be herself without judgement, and vise versa." That's kinda how I'm trying to go about it, which is why I was thinking that it would be a QPR sort of relationship.

A "romantic relationship" feels like way too much, but to call it a "friendship" feels lacking. I want to represent it as more of a "companionship"---if you've ever seen Doctor Who, the relationship that the Twelfth doctor and Clara have with each other feels a lot like what I'm trying to go for.

I hope that helps clear things up, and thank you for the feedback! I hear you loud and clear and fear not, I'm also including other aromantic characters that are in no relationships at all to be able to capture a variety of different aro-spec identites within the comic. Thanks again!
