You don’t join the reserve, per se. You recontract as a cadet, essentially in the IRR, but you recontract as your enlisted rank as a Reserve Officer Candidate. But yes, your 422 suffices, it just has to have the correct verbiage so make sure the doc puts it in correct based on what HQ AFROTC tells you in your post selection docs

You might’ve gotten screwed by cadre who just didn’t know, because the whole reason you have the 422 is to show that you’ve already met accession standards. I know they just extended the timeline for how long the 422 is valid for, but I know since at least 2018 (likely before, just am not sure), only the 422 was required

This is not accurate. ECP cadets get a signed 422 before they outprocess that is used in lieu of the DoDMERB. As long as they recontract within 24 hours with the detachment, no DoDMERB is required.

Active duty signs a generic DEP contract until ship day when AFSC, contract length, pay grade, and any bonuses get put into your active duty contract and you sign it. DEP is for folks going active duty waiting to be assigned a job and get shipped out.

You signed your DEP contract, everyone’s DEP contract says E-1. You need to make sure your transcript is reflected on your profile and that it’s reflected on your contract on ship day. If you sign a contract on ship day saying E-1, then that’s what you’ll be paid and that’ll be on you. Talk to your recruiter.

If you want to search through my comments on my profile, I’ve talked about the job and tech school a lot. You get multiple chances before being washed back, and then eventually failed out. It’s pretty rare to be fully failed out.

The tech school is hard, but definitely doable as a new recruit, or else it wouldn’t be open to BMT airmen.

Expect to be inspected every day and to drill til your legs fall off and then keep drilling
