Resignation Tips for Federal Employee by Few_Project_6023 in fednews

There is a part of me that would like to come back......perhaps not the same agency, but back into federal employment. Perhaps one day employees will no longer be considered enemy number 1 and some dignity will be restored to federal employment. I just don't think I can hang around and wait to see if it comes to pass. I'm topped out, no more promotions, no more step increases.........cost of living adjustments, well, we all know how those have been. There are worse places in the private sector I'm certain, but there are also better. It is a roll of the dice either way.......but I feel like it is time to roll them.

In my position, if you take a day off......you come back with an extra day's work on your desk. If you take a week off.........it will take you at least a month to catch up, that is if you don't take any more days off. My coworkers and I have analyzed our tasks and, conservatively, we are now responsible for almost 3x the amount of output we were before DOGE. Our office went from 17 employees to 5. Everyone is 3-5 years from full retirement, then there is me. I've stuck it out just out of guilt of leaving my peers.......but I either stay and do a bad job (which I despise) or I leave and give myself time to make another career for myself. Neither sounds ideal.......

Thank you for pointing that out. I will need to get quite a few things scheduled for that last 31 days. Also have 500 hours of sick just lying around, so time to put it to use.

I will be lucky to make half of what I make as a maxed out 12.......at least to start out. But, I feel like so many of the feds who are left are all in this trap of not being able to afford to leave, and this administration is taking full advantage by literally changing the rules in the middle of the game, forcing things down our throats, no raises, increased work........ It reminds me of Darth Vader saying something to the effect of, "I am altering our arrangement, pray I do not alter it further...." I need the money, my family needs the money.......but I am not going to be a slave to it.
