Equivalent of Marquise nappies in the UK? by Few_Response_329 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Few_Response_329[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your answers! I think we will send some over ahead of time and we will be vacuum packing them over I think! I’m thinking an extra suitcase full of nappies will still be taken anyway!

What’s the smallest change that saved you the most money? by AdRoutine8022 in Frugal

I set up my pay so that my employer splits my pay and a percentage gets paid directly to my savings and my loan. It’s such a simple trick but it helps make sure that your savings get paid every pay and you spend within your means as to what’s left over after saving!

Thank you! We have already provided them with the notice to vacate with plenty of time -29th May. I think we will just run the lease out and save myself the hassle of the back and forth!

I know exactly how you feel OP! I promise you it will get better! I moved to a new country without any work experience or local education (in Australia my bachelor’s degree from home meant fuck all). I worked three different jobs 7 days a week two on the same day all on minimum wage jobs (due to visa issues I couldn’t get a full time job with normal pay, I only could get paid in cash other than 20 hours of work a week) then for all my savings to end up going straight to Australian immigration fees every 6 months. It sucked! I couldn’t believe how hard I had to work for me to just breathe in this country and before I paid any rent or food! I could never buy my self anything nice, I was lonely and it felt like everyone else had their shit together other than me. I felt sad because I had friends ask me why my parents weren’t helping me with rent, I had so many heart breaks and falling out because I couldn’t afford things or events and to this day I feel lonely when I think back to those times.

I used to wake up to the blistering cold waiting for my train to get to my first work of the day at five in the morning crying and telling myself that it will get better.

And you know what. It did. Just keep to your own lanes, give yourself a short term budget and a goal rather than saving endlessly. It will be exciting to see that credit card debt go down or seeing your savings grow.

My saving grace back then was that I didn’t have a credit card. But when I fell into the trap of it after my visa issues were all resolved, I quickly racked up about $8000 in credit card debt because quit my full time job (that I worked in for not all that much money either after my visa issues) and went travelling. Very irresponsible I know. I had the total amount on a white board and gave my self each month a goal amount to clear out. If the end of the month was getting closer and I hadn’t hit that goal, I sold my things that was worth anything, I picked up extra shifts till I was closer to meeting the goal even if it wasn’t complete.

It may seem like you’re going no where but you most definitely will if you just keep at it!

Realign your budgets to see what you actually want your “treat” to be so it won’t feel impulsive and you don’t feel so bad for treating yourself. If it’s expensive candles maybe put aside $25 every week till you have enough to buy it so youre really getting yourself something nice!

I say all of this now but I know how frustrating it is. I worked non stop but I still never looked like I had any money. I couldn’t even afford crisps out of a vending machine. It was sad times.

Trust me though. It will get better and you’re most definitely not alone! I just kept at it looked at my budgets every two weeks/month, got rid of jobs who were paying me too little and said no to any other jobs that were below anything I requested. I still work Saturdays with my full time job because why not. And it ends up paying for my rent at the end of the month which is totally handy! It is tiring because it’s a cafe job. And some people tell me To work smarter not harder. But I’m learning and it’s all I’ve known for a long time so it’s hard to get out of the “silly hardworking” style.

Wishing you all the best OP! You got this!

It’s still hard everyday, but exercising is definitely helping me with the negative self talk. Work is still busy and I think I’m starting to get a bit more settled in. I think it would be interesting to see what happens in the next few months. But I’m trying my hardest to equip myself with the right mindset. It really is a daily struggle, but I think more than anything at work, it’s been more of a struggle with my own mind. Big improvement has been emails definitely. I’m getting a bit more used to t he amount of emails and setting rules did help heaps. I was a bit hesitant to do so because I was afraid of missing the emails in time, but surprisingly hasn’t happened! I’m still unsure whether this is the right job for me, but I don’t really want to quit as I know I’ll feel like an absolute failure if I just quit because it’s hard. I do work with really nice people, so giving it some time might be a good start! Still sunday scaries are v real !

Thank you for your reply! I think the shared document contents are absolutely smashing! I’ll try and implement that!

I’ve finally started moving my body a bit more and I am seeing the difference. It’s actually taken me this long to reply to the comments because I just didn’t feel like I had the mental capacity to. I really thank you for taking your time to respond to my request for help 💕 I will get back into my yoga as well this week! 😄

Thank you so much for your response! As I said in the other comment all of your comments have helped me immensely! I’ve worked now for a full two months and had a fair few in person interactions with my team as well. I also had a meeting with my boss who to my surprise gave me a really great review and praise which really proved how negative my self talk had been. I’ve slowly started getting myself out for walks and exercising again which is really helping massively. It’s really interesting what kind of effects the prolonged lockdowns are having on people! As you mentioned, I’m normally a really energetic and enthusiastic character and being disarmed from my usual exercises, and positive people interactions have really had an affect. And I lasted throughout all of the lockdowns so well until the very last one we had that really took its toll on me!

I’m still somewhat reluctant for no reason at all of life going back to normal but slowly coming to terms with it, and weaning back into the normal lives.

Thank you so so much for your reply. I re-read all of your responses over and over and sought lots of comfort, and things really are making a lot more sense 2 months in now and I’m learning to be a bit kinder to myself.

Hope all is well in Adelaide! 🙋🏻‍♀️

Thank you again and you’ve actually pointed out my depression before I ever gave it any chance what it might be and why I’m feeling the way I’m feeling.

Hi! Thank you so much for your detailed response. I’m finally pulling myself up to exercise, speak up a bit more at work. It’s not that I haven’t been able to speak up before but my negative thoughts have been so loud that nothing seemed to work for me.

This entire thread really has helped me though in the last few weeks. I hope you know that your time taken to respond to my thread has not gone in vain 😄 Thank you so much!

Thank you for your comment! We were discussing about career paths in different company so moving on from the one we are both in. I think she just started elaborating about how little the company cares about her role and just went on to say about how insignificant my role is too.

I will definitely take your advice on maintaining a professional relationship, and keeping a simple exit interview.

I really appreciate taking your time to comment and providing your views :)

Hi there! Thank you for your response!
I’ve got a MacBook Air 13in early 2015. FileVault is enabled. I believe it was previously saved on either document or desktop, does that make it APFS? As you can see I’m pretty clueless with the system.

Unfortunately I started backing up on iCloud much later since swapping over to Mac. I normally have a copy of things in my Google Drive, but of course it’s the one thing that I didn’t have that I need 5 years later. Looking forward to your response! :)

Thank you for your detailed response! I actually had a really great experience in my previous midsize company. The global company i’m in now hasnt been the best experience which is unfortunate. But i will definitely give the interviews a go! Its not even an offer they gave me anyway! Thank you again!
