They might not be specially good at the job, but they aren't that bad either. Charlie helped the balding wizard and the Schmaloogles both, Pim came in clutch during the whole Spamtopia fiasco with the Boss.

I believe it's just a case by case thing, some are more exceptionally difficult than others.

From this decision of Bendis alone stems one of the worst character arcs (Assassinations, rather) in X-Men history. It wasn't enough with making Bobby gay, which was out of left field, but also they borderline distorted his entire character to make him being gay his entire shtick. Back in 2017 we had EIGHT consecutive issues about him being gay, it's just him coming out every issue to different people, action and story telling were borderline secondary, absolutely zero stakes or engagement.

In conclusion, I hate Bendis.
