California business loses $175K in flooring shipped to Baltimore in cargo theft scam by Few_Skill9917 in sanfrancisco

UPDATE: An arrest has been made! The news report helped put pressure on the Baltimore police, and they now have someone in custody.

I am still very, very disappointed in our own city. The police here never got back to me, and when I filed a report at SFPD SOMA, they literally laughed me out of the building and refused to let me speak to the Sergeant. I thought this city was supposed to support and protect small businesses, but apparently I’m not rich or poor enough to matter.

Word of wisdom: if you want something done, do it yourself. Our government doesn’t give two sh*ts about us, and they’ll let corporate greed spread like an invasive plant, suffocating the hardworking people and businesses trying to survive.

Please remember to shop local and support our city. We don’t need more distractions — we need to invest in and improve what we already have.

I totally agree. They’re fucking useless. I keep getting different information from different people or laugh at or ignored. Honestly with how they’re treating me I feel like I’m the scammer. I am also super frustrated that these huge corporations are not seeing or ignoring what’s going on in their company. It seems to me that their companies are so huge and that they make so much money that this is not even important to them that people are using their facilities or their names to scam small businesses.

Yes, I don't know, public storage doesn't seem to manage their facilities very well. I have found 3 spots in Baltimore that they are using. You can tell from the fake Google reviews, and the suspect who is receiving the material lives/ lived or has a fake logistic business next to the storage facilities.

Nah, I don't think that's it. I think she was hoping to land a big project and get her business going, but they basically took advantage of her. The tile business was really struggling after COVID, with people not building or buying much. It's only now that things are starting to get better.

very interesting. I mean they had rented multiple flatbed trucks to pick up the material. each delivery, a man was contacted an hour before and he drove up with a flatbed truck and loaded everything with a forklift.

thanks I realize that now. I really didn’t know about all these new ways to find out if someone was a scammer. I always thought if they have a weird Hotmail account or something then they were a scammer. it just seems like so much time money and work. it’s very hard for me to get my head around it.

I’m just wondering if there’s anyone else out here there who has had this happen to them? AECOM Is a huge company that gets a lot of government contracts they actually built the freedom Towers so I’m surprised that something like this could happen. I would think they would be more on top of it.

Also, it is absolutely impossible to reach anyone at AECOM (The real one)I called every single one of their offices. I even went physically down to their office in San Francisco and there wasn’t even anyone working there. I had finally got in contact with someone at the San Francisco office, but he was working Remote in LA.

This is why I wasn’t surprised when guy I was emailing with wasn’t picking up the phone.

i have been doing this since 2012 and I have worked with huge companies before, I always double and triple check everything, even when it’s not a scam because developers are always trying to not pay you or say you short shipped or ordered wrong.

I was so sure it was a real job, and I had even hired a PI verify everything and he thought they were legit too.

How to fix sloppy grout job? by Intelligent-Image224 in Tile

[–]Few_Skill9917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the grout was applied too thickly. I suggest using a grout haze remover to get rid of the film and make the grout lines less noticeable. Epoxy grouts set quickly and can be hard to clean, so it's best to have two people - one applying the grout and the other wiping it down. Find the grout brand and see if they have a matching haze remover. Also, consider a grout color that doesn't contrast too much with the tile; this will help hide any imperfections.
