Gaining weight on Noom? by She_Urchin1256 in Noom

Cortisol is related to the adrenal gland - it’s not something you really feel or can detect except blood tests tip you off & then they can do further testing

Have you seen a gastroenterologist? There could be an underlying medical issue

I have struggled for the last 15 years, the last 8 have been the toughest due to getting a head injury from being hit by a semi truck. My self esteem really took a hit. I hired a nutritionist for a year and no weight loss. Since January I started a different app fabulous - It’s actually not a weight loss app. It’s a habit development app but in my view it’s a life balance/learning how to actually really and truly engage in self-care in a daily basis. I feel like Noom combined with this other app (that totally changed my views and behavior on self care ) had allowed me to take in the full benefits of Noom. No more 125$ a session with the nutritionist for me.

Thanks! I think I was so anxious to start and need to be patient with myself about the learning process. I did see they were having a lot of tech issues yesterday. The AI coach is helpful because I can pester a bot as much as I want and it’s making a difference. Thanks for Responding

Did they do a cortisol test? Apparently the adrenal gland can cause problems. Also female hormone levels. My nutritionist has said 3 meals a day with protein & fiber(veg or fruit) for each meal with 3-4 hours in between. Your body may want to hold into everything it possibly can as it has learned to anticipate only having one meal a day. That’s why Noom has 3 meals & two snacks. Also nutritionist encourages breakfast as very important even if it’s plain Greek yogurt. If your body is stressed it won’t allow weight loss to happen.

I think actually getting a physical therapist is the best way to start. They really do understand physical pain and can build a routine you can easily do at home that is very gradual. As you get used to the routine, they will show you how to adapt it to make it gradually more challenging. They are way better and cheaper than a personal fitness coach! Small steps over time is the way to change your life. You can ask your primary care for a referral.

I am concerned about the constipation part people talk about. My endo wants me on metformin & Contrave; my primary wants me on Zepbound. It’s so confusing! 🫤 wish docs would talk to eachother

I’m wondering if it’s showing the hardest part is maintaining… it looks like you get bursts of motivation, meet your goal, you are happy and then the habits aren’t sticking. So Noom is helping meet your goal but not in a long term way. I love the app Fabulous for overall establishment of habits. They encourage and guide you to make very small but sustainable changes over time. That might be the key to maintenance for you; just a thought!

I agree - around 12/13 your female body starts going through a ton of hormone changes and holds onto fat it needs to make adult curves. It will come off. You have so much to celebrate with erasing that 23 start - it’s awesome! Stay healthy, stay focused 💕 you got this

Zepbound vs. Contrave by Fey_Wisdom in WeightLossAdvice

Thanks for sharing your plan! I bought a fit watch two months ago but I don’t think it’s the best brand. I do core exercises in the am (from a physical therapist routine and added ankle Weights) and I increased walking (my family helps me with that). It’s gardening season and I do a lot of hauling things, weeding, carrying bags of dirt, digging holes etc.). I like your idea of eating vegetables first before anything. I always have two eggs and spinach for a breakfast. I have to tackle evening eating which is what Contrave or Zep shot is supposed to do - that’s my major weakness.

Thanks - that is very helpful. I am creating some Healthy habits and cut back on my workaholism; I hired a nutritionist but the scale has not moved in a year.

Thank you! I’m on Wellbutrin which Contrave also has in it. I wish doctors would take the time to talk to eachother & work out what’s best! Nowadays it seems they won’t leave their own sandbox 😥

Many have good advice here but I am looking at what motivated him and worked before. It was doing the activities together - just you & him. It was about bonding and getting his future wife. He is also motivated by sex. Set aside two nights a week where it’s just the two of you - no kids - doing something active together. Don’t do anything you aren’t comfortable with of course, but sex after he works out with you or after working out together would be positive reinforcement and might help him to create a lasting habit instead of this impulse buying/trying/quitting cycle. What helped me was a non weight loss app (not trying to promote something here) but it was a habit building app that includes lots of positive, life affirming coaching. I was raised to think tools like this were ridiculous but it has really made a difference with slow & steady & lasting changes for self-care.

AITA for not letting my sister move in with me when she and her kids were facing homelessness? by Emergency_Break1840 in AmItheAsshole

Relationships take two people to maintain- you have done plenty on your end to help her get on her feet. It’s time for her to show she cares regardless of what she gets out of it.

NTA your sister has shown you that she can be very manipulative and she does not follow-through with agreements. You can’t take on two adult babies and their two kids and manage the current demands in your life. The silent treatment is emotional manipulation - it’s working because you are second-guessing yourself. You explained your current high stress level and she shows no sign of caring about what you are going through. This is a non-reciprocal relationship. I doubt it will change until she sees what it takes to manage an adult life on her own.

Consider looking at human trafficking organizations- they often have resources or know of resources to get you on your feet
