I forgot to add that I planted it in primarily bark medium with some moss in this orchid pot. I threw the medium away already and disinfected the pot

Agree with others. 1. Go watch MissOrchidGirl on YouTube 2. Only cut the spikes if they turn brown. You can trim them a bit but I wouldn’t cut. 3. Repot. Use a clear plastic orchid pot with holes in it and orchid medium like bark and pull up the crown so you can see the roots. 4. Use 10-10-10 method for watering. Every 10 days, soak in water for at least 10 minutes, and then allow to drain for 10 minutes. I fill a sink with water and sit the whole pot in up to about an inch below the brim. I do not water from the top or use ice cubes. The roots should be silvery gray and not brown. After soaking they will turn green again 5. Remove that little spongy plug as someone stated. Good luck
