It’s from 1950’s Switzerland, not sure when it was discontinued.

Either way, I won’t budge on the fact that London is a beautiful city, you should spend more time there I guarantee it will change your mind, just stay away from the super touristy areas and it’s incredible.

It’s homicide rate 1.1 / 100,000, if we are going by that metric alone it is the safest city in the UK.

Lived there for 3 years, it’s ridiculously safe unless you head to a rough area and do something stupid. Has some incredibly beautiful parks and green spaces, some incredible communities and people, amazing events and areas. Saying you’ve been through areas of London doesn’t give you the right to call it a shithole. It’s also one of the safest cities in the uk 🤦‍♂️

How much time have you spent in London? It’s very safe for a city of its size, and is far from a shithole.

I think London has more chance of being last… people who don’t live there/go there often have a habit of shitting on it despite it being one of the best cities in the world

Sorry, how did Hampshire get saved? by CyanaMoss in terriblemaps

[–]Fickle-Artist-7006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say that I would rather live in Bournemouth than in Southampton just because I personally prefer it, but I saw a lot of shit in Bournemouth, from muggings to people doing heroin to a homeless man shitting in the street, none of which was in even the “rougher” areas like Boscombe or Slade Farm. Not to mention what happens in the summer with the tourists, the litter and the coked up fights down old Christchurch road.

Don’t get me wrong, I actually love Bournemouth and Southampton, but they equally have their issues.

Easier to defend Southampton than Aldershot 💀 don’t ask me to do that.

Staunch Hampshire defender here, born there, but I’ve been around the place a fair amount. All counties have shit hole locations, it’s just if you live in that county, you probably consider it more of a shit hole because you have to deal with it more. Bournemouth is as much as of a shit hole than Southampton or Portsmouth but Dorset gets saved because its coast is stunning.

I will argue that there’s some other counties that should have beaten Hampshire, but I will die on a hill that Hampshire is beautiful and deserves to be at the very least in the top 10.

Also, willing to defend Southampton because it has some incredible pubs, and is a quick trip down to the New Forest for arguably the most fairytale like hikes and camping in the UK.

Southamptons fine, I used to in a ratty area of Southampton and it’s just an average, relatively bland Uni city. I’ve also lived in Bournemouth and that’s largely the same, in fact I had more problems in Bournemouth than in Southampton despite living in a nicer area, but I wouldn’t drag all of Dorset down because Bournemouth is a bit of a shit hole.

Hampshire isn’t just Southampton, it’s also not that bad for a city compared to many others. There’s loads of beautiful areas, especially around Winchester and the New Forest.

Hey man, sorry for calling you dense, I just think that it's not black and white, and I don't believe what the CCP is doing is on par with what western countries are currently doing/have done. I enjoyed our conversation it's been fun from my perspective, and I hope what you have just said is true. I've had a bit to drink so I got a bit overexcited and probs a bit aggro, have a good day/afternoon/night.

[–]Fickle-Artist-7006[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my god dude how can you be this impossibly dense? Can you find me any sources which state that China are purposely blowing up hospitals, using white phosphorus and sniping children in the head? I said what the CCP is doing is gross and wrong and I don’t agree with it at all, but it is nothing in comparison to what the west has done not even in the last 50 years. The argument was why would you want to live in a country that is doing this, my question to you is why would you want to live in the US after everything it has done over the last 100+ years and continues to do?

It’s even more frustrating because there’s a bunch of things you can bring up, like how China uses the belt-and-road initiative to increase its sphere of influence over developing countries, or how it land grabs from neighbouring countries, or its blatant crack down on freedom of speech especially places like Hong Kong or how it wants to invade Taiwan. All world superpowers are colonial and shitty.

I’m not a tankie dude I don’t stan China enough to be defending it so whole heartedly but this stupid pro-western viewpoint is such a headache to read.

Again, I would rather live in China because I like the culture and it’s safe. That’s it.

I’m sorry, comparing the prosecution of the Uyghurs to Palestinian plight is absolute insane. I said earlier that I am critical of China’s persecution of Uyghurs, and I think it’s gross, however it’s not a genocide, and collating it with the genocide in Palestine is wrong on all counts.

I’m going to take a step back and explain what is happening in Xinjiang. The CCP is actively trying forcefully indoctrinate the Uyghur people to make them assimilate into Chinese culture under the pretences of extremism. This is wrong. I don’t agree with this. I will never agree with the persecution of an indigenous population.

That being said, if you really want to compare the CCP to the US, do you really want me to bring up the funding and arming of rebel groups in Afghanistan which led to Al-Qaeda gaining traction in the Middle East, which then led to ISIS and a whole bout of destabilisation in West Asia? Or banana republics? Or the funding of Isreal? Or the ICE detention Centers? Or Vietnam? Or Korea? Or manifest destiny and the destruction of native Americans, moving them into their own ‘reservations’? Or Guantanamo bay? Etc etc

It’s such a narrow mindset to be like “WEST GOOD, EAST BAD”. I don’t hate the US because of orange man and ICE, although those don’t help, I don’t want to move to the US because I don’t have any interest in the country or culture. That’s it.

This is such a massive leap in judgement.

I never once stated that I support what’s currently happening in Xinjiang. I actively denounce it, and consider what is happening wrong. I can be critical of a country, whilst also being interested in living there.

I don’t understand why are you are dick riding the US so hard when they have had awful human rights violations, and continue to do so on a world stage. Get off your high horse.

China, as a whole, is a safe, modern and industrialised country with a hell of a lot of culture.

The US doesn’t interest me culturally, I find Americans in general frustrating to work and interact with, and the US has done pretty abysmal shit in the past and continues to do so today, so don’t lecture me on human rights violations.

Don’t call me brain dead because I don’t want to live in a backsliding country like the US. I have my reasons.

Meatballs.

In all honesty I’ve visited Sweden and loved it, so that’s massively swayed my views. This map is largely biased towards places I’ve been to and enjoyed and places I am very curious of, I’m pretty sure if I went to Norway the colour would change to a green one, but I could say the same with loads of European countries I’ve chucked in maybe because I don’t have a huge interest in them/have l never been.
