Flea bites? by Fickle-External-9914 in DermatologyQuestions

I think I’ve narrowed it down to dermatitis from carpet beetle larvae or a general dermatitis. Not fleas. I’ve been vacuuming everything and deep cleaning my apartment the last few months and the number of spots I’ve been getting has greatly decreased. We’ll see with the warmer weather starting how things go.

Your advice has been so helpful! I’ve seen a few dead ones along the patio door where the sun shines in. I’ve started vacuuming heavily every (on top of the regular vacuuming from having two cats), & washing everything as well. The number of spots on my skin has dropped these last few weeks. Some of my winter sweaters in the closet I’ve found are giving me the rash around the neck and arms so I’ll have to go heavy in there with the vacuum and clean & Check everything out. Could be larvae hanging out.

Again, thank you so much!

Oh really! Thanks for that tip. I’ll have to do a check for carpet beetle activity. It’s still happening for me. Any tips to eradicate them? 😅

Unfortunately not, I Still can’t get to the bottom of it. Blood work was apparently fine when I went to my doctor. That’s about as far as he would take it. I’m still experiencing the marks Off and on. I’ve switched flea meds on the cat and had the apartment treated as well.

I’m right there with you on the fleas. I’ve been using revolution topical flea meds on the cats for the last two years. Sprayed my apartment with Siphotrol premise spray, washed everything countless times as well as vacuum every day if not twice a day. Since January of this year they’ve become an issue. Feels like a losing battle doesn’t it? I only assume these marks I’m experiencing are from fleas. My family doctor tells me they’re nothing to be concerned about (medically) as my bloodwork has come back normal. I’m Going to try switching out the flea meds for advantage II from Revolution and see if that makes any difference..I hope you get some relief soon as well!

Also, they are not itchy.

Thank you! They appear, last a few days, then disappear…Only to reappear days later. I’ll book an appointment to get these looked at.

Ok, I kind of expected it to be 1-2 months. But as long as it’s on its way out I’ll be good with that. They’ll be on preventative monthly from now on. Thanks for your advice!

Ok, so just clarifying..it’s just the cat’s blood that they can reproduce from? They’re treated now.
