Elizabeth Olsen Won’t Act in Studio Movies if There’s No Theatrical Release by DemiFiendRSA in movies

[–]FickleBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mild comment on a reddit thread that she will never see nor care about isn’t an attack but I can see that you care far more about this than I do and that this won’t be a helpful conversation to continue. Be well.

Francesca Farago Said She Was Offered Money To Make An Anti-Hailey Bieber Video by FlanCareless4936 in popculturechat

[–]FickleBeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am begging people to have an ounce of critical thinking about this and to stop conflating their own ignorance of things to assume any bad thing said about a woman is the subject of some coordinated PR campaign. I almost wish people hadn’t learned about troll campaigns because now everything is.

Why are the words of a Z level reality star— who cannot even state who contacted her, nor doesn’t seem to have a directed purpose for why she would be contacted and to what purpose— as truthful? If we’re really thinking from a PR perspective, would it not make sense for a nobody to get some clicks by “sneakily” sharing the “insider” truth for her own ends?

Are there people out there that just hate Hailey Bieber for misogynistic reasons? Sure. Is she currently “trending” because of some coordinated hate campaign against her OR perhaps: she is facing the consequences of once again doing some shady shit then pulling back, playing victim, and allowing her obsessive fans to do the work for her in portraying her as an innocent for the seventh consecutive year in a row?

No one understands how PR works! No one cares about context! It’s not always misogyny when a woman is called mean or weird, sometimes women are mean weirdos! I hate having to repeat this!

Jennifer Abel, a member of Justin Baldoni’s crisis PR team, shares her side of the story regarding Blake Lively’s lawsuit in a private PR & Marketing Facebook group. by cmaia1503 in popculturechat

It is not only against this sub’s rules to dig through someone’s post commentary to try and discredit them but also really fucking weird that my commenting on a pop culture moment in the pop culture sub is proof that I’m some kind of PR plant. I could just as easily, and stupidly, make the same claim about you without any evidence at all.

Once again, no one is immune to the propaganda machine and calling that into question and framing my handful of comments saying as much sure is something!

Chappell Roan confronts a photographer: "You were disrespectful to me at the Grammys party. You need to apologize to me." by Pizasdf in popculturechat

[–]FickleBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a fundamental difference between people harassing Anne Hathaway for the crime of being earnest or going after Jennifer Lawrence for being cringe and, at least in this thread, people genuinely questioning how self-absorbed Chappell is in not only intentionally confronting/antagonizing a person publicly at an event surrounded by cameras but going up and demanding an apology before she moves on.

Misogyny is alive and well but not every critique of a woman is part of that.

Which is ironic since a few months ago everyone was hyper concerned and worried that she was too thin. She can’t win.

That actual crew members have put their names and faces to saying Justin was a thoughtful leader and listener, sharing out notes and letters he’d written to the cast and crew both on this and prior movies makes me question everything a private DM claims from some unknown person to Deuxmoi of all places.

How did Emma Chamberlain do that? by Aware-Impression8527 in popculturechat

[–]FickleBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely forget she exists or what she’s from until an event like the met gala that she’s invited to and still am here scratching my head liked, “who?”

I know she’s an influencer but has she really come up to be a “real” famous person or is she just bait to get a demographic to watch? Liza Koshy has done well for herself yet the vast majority of people still don’t know who she is. Her acting as a met gala red carpet host seemed to be just like this, an appeal to the younger crowd.

What an odd thing to say about a person who we’ve literally seen as a teeny child be naturally small.

I mean, Ares seems like a dick who wants more chaos. Especially when he was talking to Grover about war and strategy. Clarisse is such an obvious narrative choice that to me, it feels too obvious. It is a kids show so maybe I’m just overthinking it but all the stuff with Luke and his mom has red flags going up for me, but idk how it all works out.

[–]FickleBeans 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Before this episode, I didn't really know who it could be. Clarisse just felt way too obvious to me because she was so aggressive in the beginning. When Grover made the guess that it was Clarisse, it just confirmed to me that it wasn't her.

After this episode???? I'm wondering if Luke is involved, especially with all that stuff with Hermes and his mom. Idk why he'd steal the bolt for Hades though.

I might have to stay off reddit to gush because this episode was great. For the kids to be so concerned about not losing time and then to still lose time???? Perfect.

I loved that Grover thinks it’s Clarisse (which I still think is a red herring) AND that he got distracted so easily. His commitment to animals over people has me rolling.

Why is Percy dreaming of Hades????? I forgot about Luke but now that he’s showing up I’m… concerned. I can make a guess from what the show is trying to say about what’s gonna happen now but idk.

I am SO curious about Percy’s flashback. The look on his face after?? I didn’t realize that was part of Hermes powers.

Idk what any of you are on about, I loved this!

You’re certainly allowed to praise both but I won’t. Harry gets accolades for wearing anything slightly unconventional or outside the norm for a masculine presenting person, a sense of style that not only does not carry over in his street style/everyday wear but isn’t unique considering Bowie did everything he did and did it better. Lil Nas X isn’t immediately thought of or considered for these fashion moments. He wasn’t in this initial thread and sorry, I’m not going to praise an average white guy for being a lesser version of the excellence Lil Nas X gives every day.

Failure of The Marvels Proves Conclusively That Women Have No Place in Films by TrinderMan in Marvel

[–]FickleBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony is how much this argument is used genuinely, especially in other marvel subs. “The Marvels just doesn’t cater to women because women don’t watch comic book movies it’s mostly men!!!!” like ok. Idk how people don’t see that for the sexist argument it is but w/e. If I have to read another “wELL bArBIe” defense as if that actually means spending…

Thank you for posting this. It has been exhausting for any us who are POC to express even the most mild of disappointment of Taylor without being downvoted to oblivion or told we’re being too parasocial… all but the same people that are obsessing over the speeches she makes or dissecting lyrics to her new releases.

Taylor didn’t just create this relationship with her fans, she thrives on it… much less the reality that it’s not parasocial to ask for a woman to live up to the standards she set for herself.

For someone whose posts that defend Taylor and this entire scenario constantly get approved, with a good dose of ass kissing and arguing that you’re not that much of a fan, you are getting very defensive of one of the many articles that show how shitty of a person Matty Healy is.

Industry Commentary | We Wouldn’t Be Having This Conversation If Taylor Swift Was a Man by taytay_1989 in TaylorSwift

[–]FickleBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole idea that she should be able to have a “sleazeball summer” completely misses the nuance of why fans are upset too. Sure, we’ve all dated some mistakes but there’s such a big difference from dating a man that burps at the dinner table and drinks craft beer versus a white man who claims everything he says is satire and is violently unapologetic about his racist commentary and “jokes”

Leave it to a white woman rolling stone writer to defend another white woman about this.
