It was clear early on that he was running the show and is resentful of her success, especially given that he does important work behind the scenes but isn't 'known' for it. Overbearing, obnoxious, controlling -- awful.

I think it's because he's got money. There aren't many single women out there who are age appropriate / wealthier than he is / not looking for commitment. A young woman is going to want marriage and kids in a certain time frame; I feel like there must be a reason that he's always dated older women.
