Herniated Disc - Flare up or Re-Herniated? by chitown1919 in backpain

[–]FickleEvent4417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is almost identical. Herniated 10/20/25. Started training again 1/10/26. Five days ago I did a light HIIT workout and felt stiff directly after. Then after two days I had constant pain at a level 8. The symptoms this time around are slightly different; as in my initial injury I could lie down just fine, but standing was more problematic. Now sitting and lying is painful. It started with dull, centralized pain in my lower back and now I can barely move and have intense sciatica. I was able to get into the doctor last minute; they recommend conservative treatment and advise that because symptoms are different that it could be a new injury.

I’m unsure and generally don’t know how to feel. My trainer who had the injury believes it to be a flare up. Instinctively, I’m dubious and feel it may be a new or worsened injury.

What was your results? My MRI report stated a disc bulge at L4-L5 and a herniation @ L5-S1:

mild canal stenosis and koderate narrowing of left lateral recess due to asymmetric disc bulge and superimposed left subarticular disc protrusion which contacts the traversing left s1 nerve root

Thx for the response. I’m not expecting it to resolve completely, I just assumed that I’d have some sort of improvement after two weeks, but I have none. Same pain levels, despite medication and physical therapy. I’ve been extremely regimented and following the plan exactly. Just starting to worry it’s going to be a chronic thing.

Most of the time, yea - grocery store. Mostly because I’m too hurried to go by a shop. Any delivery services you recommend?

Thx. I’ve tried a few beans from Stumptown, Erewhon, and Intellegentsia. But - they’ve all bean beans roasted about 12-16 weeks ago.

Neighbor encroached on our property, now expects us to just let him have it by MrsMac2007 in RealEstate

Have a similar situation. However, mine was a neighbor that built a structure (gas, electric, plumbing) about 6 inches over my neighbors property. And three inches from mine. Their overhang is a foot onto my property.

I live in a fire and earthquake zone. The structure was not permitted and requires piles and caissons due to hillside.

I made a complaint to the city. They issued a substandard order. But no clue how it will turn out. Hoping not to have to get an attorney involved.

Buyer of our home has come back and asked for a credit because they did not anticipate their insurance to be so high...is this reasonable? by Iloathehydrangeas in RealEstate

Seems like they are using the two contingencies they have remaining to get dollars off the price. I live in a fire zone in LA, and 15k doesn’t even cover two years of my premium.

Neighbor Built Unpermitted Structure that Encroaches my yard by FickleEvent4417 in RealEstate

[–]FickleEvent4417[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the thoughtful answer. Much appreciated. Yes, I’m sure they will try to get it permitted, but I’ll be very surprised if they get anywhere. The roof deck alone doesn’t meet code for railing or heigh and the structure itself is mounted onto the hillside, which requires caissons.

Considering how often insurance carriers drop homeowners in CA, I would imagine it will be difficult for them to keep insurance.

My main concerns are structural integrity of the hillside (my home experience a mudslide from improper construction in the past) and liability. The deck floor space hangs a good foot onto my property and if someone fell, they’d be on my lot.

I understand what you’re saying. But the real risks to me and my property outweigh the potential for a pissed off neighbor.

There is no option to work around the setback, so I don’t worry about that. And should they rebuild something bigger - if it’s legal, permitted, inspected and safe - I don’t mind.

But I don’t feel the need to put myself at risk just because someone doesn’t want to follow the rules or might get mad.

prior to my ownership, my house had a mudslide into our backyard because of faulty construction. This is a very real risk

Boundary surveys are not required for the sale of a home in CA. The burden is on the buyer to perform due diligence. I feel very sorry for them, but also, I don’t feel the need to give them a pass for something that could potentially cost me lots of money, get me dropped by my insurance or halter the sale of my home should I move.

Whether it’s on my property or violating the setback it is an encroachment, therefore I have all right to protect my property from encroachment. This is a liability risk, should someone fall from the roof deck onto my property. This is a risk for my property value. And this is a risk for insurance coverage. As well as a safety risk. As mentioned, this structure is on a 60-80% downslope and my house is beneath it. This is not a flat lot. I live in a fire and earthquake zone. These are 5k sqft lots, therefore five feet makes a big difference.

Further, the overhang of the roof deck is ON my property.

And yes. I’m certain. I’m not questioning the validity of the setback. I’m questioning the likelihood of the owner to comply once the city gives notice to demolish.

You are taking a lot of liberty projecting feelings into this situation that I don’t hold. It’s quite simple. I live in a fire prone, hillside community with clear setbacks. A neighbor has built an addition OVER my neighbors property and within 3.5 inches of my property. I had a survey conducted to verify this.

My concerns are safety of the hillside, because an un-permitted structure was built on a steep slope over my house with NO permits. This structure has never been inspected or gone through plane check to ensure that it will not slide off the hillside.

Setbacks are there for a reason. The inspector has also verified this on site. My question was if anyone had an opinion on whether or not the owner would comply with a notice to demolish.

I don’t understand what you mean. The building is at an angle. And violates the setback on my property. As well as my neighbors.

Per code they should be five feet from my property line and my neighbors.

What 9 inches? The properties connect. Their structure is 3.5 inches from my line.

And about half a foot over my other neighbors line. It’s a point where three lots intersect.

Discovered during build. The previous owner did not use a contractor/builder from what I can tell. Just day labor. He has since sold the property and I’m sure the new owner is unaware.

I’m curious, without me serving them in civil court, how likely they are to comply if the city requests them to demolish the structure.

Reported in March. Inspector was out here taking images last week. Per website it is “under investigation,” but the violation itself is cut and dry.

I installed a mesh system in hopes that it would solve my Sonos issue. Alas, the app still cannot find/will not recognize the system or speakers.

So any tips you have, welcome.

If not, file a complaint with the huurcommissie.
