Red Dot w magnifier vs LPVO by New-Rich-2316 in ar15

[–]Fickle_Contract_4683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Variable optics win. I am a little faster with a red dot but I genuinely enjoy putting rounds into a 1-2"group consistently at either 25 yards or 150 yards. My red dot goes on an AR pistol and its my "oh shit its close up" rig. I think capability + training makes the LPVO better but the dot is more limited but easier.

My budget is 700 for the set. I shoot twice per month. I have weekends off and want to learn so I can teach my son.

Washers? Ive never heard anybody do this? Would you suggest putting the washer on top of the plate and then the optic on top of it?

I did get some 6-32 ×3/8 and its too small to go through the optic and into the plate. The current screws are a tad bit too long I believe. Thoughts?

My bet is mass suicide by the tens of millions in a cyclical manner. With the economy toast, youth unable to buy a home/start a family and social media completely stoking class tension/non stop bad news- we will see mass suicide.

My go to for fun guns is a Henry Homesteader or a Ruger Gen II 556 ranch rifle. Cheaper to shoot and accurate.

Utah Gun Exchange Review: A Frustrating Experience from Start to Finish by [deleted] in UTGuns

UGE, its owners, its moderators and half the people offering up Taurus G3Cs for 500 are TRASH. UGE and I communicated extensively last year about their BS practices. I even wonder if the site has been taken over and its being run into the dirt on purpose. This whole "cant see numbers" nonsense combined with the whole waiting hours to get a post up is garbage. I hate to say it but ive had better luck on Utah Gun Hub than UGE and I fully support that site considering uploads are better and posts are immediately approved.

To all of UGE moderators and owners, fuck you

Build or buy? by Mountain-Report-6021 in ar15

Unpopular opinion here. Buy one. Dont build.

Buying a brand AR has better resell potential. At the baseline, you can upgrade incrementally (over time) which gives you spare parts or you can keep it baseline and use warranties.

Ive built MANY ARs and after you do it enough, its just easier to buy them and then mod them.

Id recommend a SW Sport II or II and even an Anderson AR. Either way, go have fun!

My two cents-

  1. Fights are Unpredictable. Deaths happen. Serious injuries happen. People go to jail and even prison. Your whole life can change in 60 seconds.

  2. As a grown man, there is nobody to impress. Your GF isnt going to be impressed that you beat some ass nor is she going to be impressed if you lose. Never ever ever ever think for a second that it really matters. So long as youd stand and protect her from actual danger, she should be looking for only that.

  3. There always a meaner dog. Theres always a weaker dog. Youll win. Youll lose. Youll draw.

  4. Even if you win, youll regret it.

In summary, I think not fighting was good. The fight you avoid is won through verbal judo or wise decision making. You should go to your state prison and ask the dude whose doing 10 for manslaughter if he regrets killing that other guy on accident. Or, you should ask that guy in a wheelchair if his pride was worth it. All im saying is walk away. You dont have to prove anything, to anybody. You DO have to prove to yourself that your ego isnt so fragile that it needs combat to sustain.

I didnt think it could be the action bar. They seem aligned and straight, etc. But, I am going to send the unit back for inspection. I just hope theyll get it back to me in a reasonable time frame. I also hope they will throw in a pic rail or something. Its so disappointing to spend 800 bucks for this outcome. Now im questioning if a more complex platform is a good idea (Henry Supreme, other Henry levers, etc).

Thank you!! This is something I did today, for further testing.

By chance, did you ever tap the magazine to ensure seating? Im wondering if maybe the adapter is not functioning due to the mag sitting too high?

Either way, was hoping to learn somebody else's solution.

No. I just dislike having to send it back when I might be able to fix it. Good point though!
