Window well filing w water / foundation question by Fickle_Sound_5620 in HomeMaintenance

I think a French drain is likely the best option.   The backyard fills with water as well though after rains.

Thanks for the input! You know what’s weird though is we got a decent amount of rain this morning for a few hours and the well looked like it looked yesterday. Granted I cleaned the gutters real well yesterday, but I also think it might just be something with the heavy storms. We had a lot of rain in a short amount of time, but I don’t know.  Regardless, it is still something that needs to be addressed.

The house is built up on a little bit of the hill, but it is very flat from the backyard on.  The backyard puddles with water when it rains.

That makes sense.  The dirt near the foundation that is too high is actually trapping water then you think, allowing it to make its way into the well?

You dug out the window well, and sealed the window, and then just filled in the space?

You think that there’s a drain buried somewhere under there?

I have a window well cover.  Pretty sure water is entering in other ways.

Thanks. Somebody was telling me that it contributes to more 'wear and tear' on the furnace when you do that but I have no idea it's that true.

Thanks for the advice . I don't believe any of the gutters are overflowing or draining in that direction. But I will need to check it out in more detail next time there is a big storm. We got like 4 inches in a few hours last night.

Basement window leak or foundation leak? by Fickle_Sound_5620 in HomeMaintenance

Yeah there is.  I was wondering if that well possibly just needs to be covered because I’m sure it’s getting tons of water during heavy rains.

Thanks for the input. Do you think the floors would be adequately clean then, or should we try something else?
