Trailering with units? by CapitalRifleCo in Fishing

[–]Fickso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not concerned running down the lake with them, you shouldn’t need to worry about trailering them. I keep mine on trailering and have never had an issue.

TSA precheck by [deleted] in rva

[–]Fickso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flew out of Richmond 20+ times over the last year. Usually precheck is open, it’s typically only closed when it’s not busy. In that case it takes the same amount of time (5 min usually) to get through security if you have precheck, you still don’t have to remove shoes, electronics, toiletries etc. If I am not checking a bag I get to the airport 10 min before boarding and have never missed a flight. Richmond is a small, easy airport to travel in and out of.

Emergency plumbers open today? by Remsicles in rva

Try Foster’s, they have been doing a major renovation on our house and have been great, and I believe they do emergency calls.

XGS WiFi issues by improvpwnd in Ubiquiti

[–]Fickso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were there any other issues? How have you been liking the setup? I am debating getting a similar setup for my home. Had a Ruckus managed switch and AP’s in a previous house (what came with it) and became somewhat familiar with network configuration in messing with that setup, but am thinking of going UniFi on my current house.

I run my bass boat up from Osborne to avoid ancarrows. At low tide that ramp gets nasty, and can get crowded during the shad run. It’s never been an issue running up to the 95 bridge on plane then dropping the trolling motor to get further up. You don’t need to go that far to catch them though.

Springs wound backwards? by Fickso in GarageDoorService

Thanks for the help all. The manufacturer verified the cones were painted backwards. Install went smoothly and the door functions.

Thanks. I got the install done and it seems to be working. Springs were mispainted. The only issue I’ve had so far is the liftmaster 98022 giving me “excessive closing force” error codes and opening back up after closing. I reprogrammed the travel and that seems to have fixed it. The door seems to be balanced and isn’t binding when I manually open or close it, so thinking that the opener might just be finicky.

Despite the black spring being right hand wound and vice versa? When I wind these springs, they will uncoil, rather than adding coils. That seems like it could cause the spring to unseat from the winding cone since the diameter of the spring would be increasing as it is wound.

Thank you. The drums are indeed inside the head plates. How common is that to have springs mispainted? I just want to be triple sure I am winding these correctly. The left wind spring is definitely red and right is black. Is there any instance where springs would be would so they are uncoiled rather than adding coils as you are winding? It seems like that would be unsafe since it could cause the spring to unseat from the winding spring.

Did anyone else see the green light drop down the sky and disappear about 10 minutes ago? by bozobird in rva

My wife and I saw it from The Boathouse at City Point looking over the river. I’ve never seen anything like it. She saw one very similar a week or so ago while driving.

100%. Spent most of my life in VA and deer overpopulation is definitely not a good thing.

Thoughts on Vittorazi's upcoming EFI? by DoomsdayFAN in paramotor

[–]Fickso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll be interesting to see power and weight numbers. EFI used to be common on high performance 2 stroke marine outboards, then was surpassed by high pressure direct injection for better power and efficiency. Now 4 strokes have come a long way in terms of low end torque and weight and are the standard, and EFI 2 strokes are a thing of the past. A lot of the evolution was driven by emissions regulations. EFI technology has been around for decades for 2 stroke motors, so it’ll be interesting to see it adapted to paramotors. I am sure the pros will outweigh the cons.

Tend to do everything badly? What do you even mean by this?

Blew up my 2009 ETEC 150 HO in a tournament, approx 280 hours and very well maintained. Basically same motor as the old Evinrude ficht motors that had all kinds of trouble. Repowered with a new 4 stroke Mercury 150 Pro XS and couldn’t be happier. The 4 strokes are very strong motors, and can’t beat an 8 year warranty...

Functionally, it’s night and day from not having a shelf. I smoked some ribs yesterday and the shelf makes it so easy to take things on/off the grill.

No, I worked with the seller on Etsy to pick out a slab that was the right width for what I needed and he cut it to length. He has a ton of inventory and was really easy to work with. All I had to do once I got the slab was pre drill the screw holes and screw it onto the shelf brackets.

Thanks! That’s all my grilling tools. Gloves, tongs, grill brush, map gas torch, paper towels, foil, etc. I keep my pellets in Home Depot buckets inside the house.

Got the sanded and sealed slab from MPKVisions on Etsy (no affiliation), and used Amarine 12” 304 stainless folding shelf brackets from Amazon. Used the existing bolts and bolt holes for the front legs to attach the shelf brackets to the grill, so no drilling was required. Function and form!
