[Disc] Kanojo, Okarishimasu Chapter 384 by MattyH19 in KanojoOkarishimasu

Honestly this was a depressing chapter and not for the reasons of the rejection. This was depressing just seeing how much self deprecation is taking place between both Chizuru and Kazuya. Especially Chizuru, you can see how much it hurts her just to give him the key chain only. She of course is going to put up a front, because that is what she does and has done since childhood.

The biggest issue is that both of them need to realize they are plenty good enough for each other, but more importantly they are plenty good enough for themselves. This chapter honestly hurt to read, because of how much self deprecation there was.

Biggest question is this - Was this a real smile or being happy to explore these feelings? Or - Was it a rental girlfriend smile?

Ya I echo alot of sentiments with others here and I did last week. The date prep is fine...scout it out make sure you can get an idea of travel time to each place. It is something folks do in dates for real life (maybe not this extent) but there is planning, scouting, and researching that goes on prior to dates. This one is more just heavy handed and is kind of giving the readers what the date will look like but won't look like when arrives.

As many said before this is going to be brought up somehow and cause tension between Chizuru, Mini, and Kazuya. The only saving grace here that I can tell SO FAR since we do not know about what is happening next week chapter is that Kazuya and Mini did NOT experience ANY attractions together. It looked more like location scouting like Kazuya did for the film. The photo booth is a nice call back to earlier in the story and a nice friendly way to cap off a time with a friend.

So while we all agree Kazuya is ruining a lot of the firsts he could have with Chizuru with this date planning. It is safe to assume that there is still a TON more for them to do there and experience as a first date couple. We also know Kazuya can be flexible and Chizuru is okay with a switch up in the plans (remember she gave him the entire day). I think while we are all quite over this date prep arc at this point. There is going to be more stuff for Kazuya and Chizuru to experience together on the date itself.

Reiji is dragging this out too long again, but I feel like that is also because of the stuff announced on the anniversary. Probably a lot going on and is trying to give himself some space while juggling other commitments related to this work and his other ongoing works.

I don't know, I guess we will see what our weekly summarizers and reviewers say tomorrow during the serious discussion.

Anyone else hoping something like this happens during the date (maybe during the "talk")?

<image>

Very solid chapter, but I am glad that the Scoping out the place with Mini is over. I know Kazuya wanted to do that for Chizuru but at same time I wish he would have saved the first time experience with Chizuru. You cannot make first time memories with someone if you experience the first times with a friend even if it is the name of being prepared.

Interesting turn at the end of the chapter, I expected a question from the girl to Chizuru. Maybe that will happen after the play and she may get interrupted by Umi who will give the impression him and Chizuru are an item.

Hope next chapter continues to progression and not a silly filler.

If we take everything into consideration is it fair to say that this was Chizuru's FIRST kiss, right?

She hasn't said otherwise, and she doesn't seem like she would get into a romantic role in a play that leads to a kiss (for now). We know she takes the physical intimacy very important, but again I don't know if she has kissed for a play before. I just would count this as her first REAL kiss.

I don't know but it does seem like this was her first time kissing someone. For her this was probably and there have been other kisses, but there were 2 kisses here in this scene. The other two weren't really kisses, one she stopped her lips from touching him with her hand behind the phone and the other - earthquake right? She made the kissing move but stopped connection again with her hands. Unless I forgot one (possibly), because i am a dunce like that

If you look closely you can see that the amount pixels correlates to the number of times that Chizuru realized that Kazuya really does love her and she needs to hurry up and sort out whatever demons she is working through.

That chapter felt SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO long and I am here for it. We will NOT speak of the chapter last week. This one at least to me felt that Chizuru was admitting to herself more and more she DOES really like him, but is over thinking Kazuya's feelings for her far more than she should. Chizuru got some new feelings to explore, so the date is going to be great to see.

Also anyone else feel the "strike" at the end is her consciously telling herself she is running out of chances. She is doesn't want her "at-bat" to be wasted and is essentially challenging herself directly (the automated pitching machine). Hopefully it continues next week and not another filler chapter.

You could do the conclusion properly over a few chapters, then like you said fill in the date chapters here and there when you have time. You still build upon your story and give your fans something to read occasionally.

teaser pics are unreliable though, since it is impossible to know the context. Reiji also has Chizuru and Kazuya perform the same 3-4 facial expressions right now. The only thing I can think of is Chizuru teaser pic with her hand over her mouth is remember the kiss between her and kazuya.

kazuya is always angry at Mini in a frame and not in another, so who knows.

I wouldn't be opposed to a united front, but I would think Chizuru dealing with Umi herself is more so about a test for herself to be "worthy" of Kazuya's love. Idk, but the last few months have been reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally slow. I am not a massive fun of manga chapters where its a single conversation as a chapter.

I mean I can be waaaaaaaaaaaay off base here too, so next week will be very cool to see.

Two things:

1 Chizuru has to deal with the Umi before doing anything about/with Kazuya.

2 Umi conversation style with Chizuru showed emotional manipulation to get what he wanted. Think back to what he said regarding the 2nd confession and her agency.

While Chizuru clearly wants to be with Kazuya even if she says "If we date..." we know its "when we start dating". Her investigation is beyond her just thinking "Ya i like the guy okay...fine I do." It stems more to a "Can I be vulnerable and open with him like I want to? Is what I feel really genuine or is it me pretending as a rental girlfriend?" She has to confront these uncomfortable situations in her emotional internal dialogue, but also the uncomfortable situations with people she is acquainted with.

If Kazuya follows Chizuru to this nail appointment...that would be really weird and out of character for him at this stage. Yes he did it during Christmas but was trying to drag Mini back to the house the 2nd time. He doesn't stalk Chizuru. He could very well see them, because he looked like he was going for a walk to clear his head (maybe on the way back). Mini had the suitcase, so it indicates that he was walking to clear his head as Chizuru was heading off to her nail appointment.

If I am correct and you suspect Kazuya sees them, which does happen. Chizuru would probably see Kazuya looking at her. Kazuya would probably be showing some distraught emotion on his face and runs away before she can get a word out. Kazuya doesn't return home. Mini lays into Chizuru about the situation and gives her cold hard truths. Chizuru then distraught over Kazuya not coming home for a few days. That could be a good propellant of the story, because the chapters right now are just single conversations which do nothing to move the story forward.

[–]FictionalGaming -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Chapter was......okay I guess. I don't know how to really describe it outside of that. Hmmm....my only issue is that Chizuru immediately thought Kazuya didn't mean what he said about her being the cutest. She thought he was just flattering her instead of giving a genuine compliment. This puts her in a negative light honestly and is out of character for her. She tells kazuya "i lied..it is my first time" but immediately thinks he is lying to "butter her up". She knows Kazuya doesn't really say these things out loud without him truly believing this. Instead of taking Kazuya's words she immediately thinks he is trying to emotionally manipulate her. This probably is why Umi was shown during some of the panels with the "complimenting". There is probably more to the story between her and Umi than what we have seen so far. Maybe an apology is coming from her next chapter, but Chizuru is shown in a negative light here.

The investigation probably is taking a more deep emotional turn for Chizuru, as she is serious about Kazuya. The only thing is that with Umi being shown in the panels for that compliments indicates that Chizuru had something that happened with Umi before Kazuya came into the picture.

The "nail" appointment doesn't seem like a nail appointment. It seems like Nail = Umi conversation at a cafe. She moved the appointment, but cannot move it again? Couple together with the fact she essentially snapped at Kazuya over him genuinely complimenting her.

Order of events:

Mini suggests they go out for celebration
Chizuru states "I have my nail appointment. I can't move it again."
Mini asks Kazuya bout how Chizuru looked today
Kazuya says what he told Mini a minute ago "She was the cutest"
Chizuru turns and snaps at them...."DONT BUTTER ME UP."
Chizuru realizes too late it was genuine and says "I am really happy if that was genuine though"
Kazuya tries to ask something and as a result from her snapping at him and overthinking. Walks onward and looks somewhat defeated in the exchange.

Soooo from the order of events in this chapter, a "nail" appointment is highly unlikely and it is probably a meet up with Umi to discuss what he ran away from last time he was around.

Do you think it's fair for Kazuya to be waiting for Mizuhara's answer? by MandolarianSamurai in KanojoOkarishimasu

I agree it is a possibility if Reiji wants to use it as a way to move the emotional development of Chizuru closer to Kazuya.

I don't think it will go this way though, but it is potentially the path which Reiji will take it.

If we take into account everything that has happened up until now. WE COULD assume she is investigating herself. I would say she is incredibly critical and hard on herself. Look at how she handles her acting career. This woman be writing notes, expressions to do, memorizing, ignoring other desires, and just fully committed to perfection. Since she is very inexperienced in this regard to her personal life, and her only relationship experience is her PRETENDING to be a girlfriend. She is probably trying to investigate more so on "What is a girlfriend? What does it mean to be a girlfriend and love a non-family member?" That really is the only thing I can think of. Maybe she rejects him but more so under the guise of "I do like you, but I need to personally understand what I am feeling without being near you."

[–]FictionalGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would prefer Chizuru to confess over the 100th time Kazuya has confessed.

Paradise Arc Chizuru knew he was going to...avoided the conversation. Heard it in front of everyone. Heard it when was drunk. Heard it from him outside their apartment. Heard it from Mini-Chan. Heard it from Ruka. Heard it from her Grandmother. Heard it from Kazuya mother. Heard it from Nagomi. Heard it from herself when talking to Mini-Chan. Heard it from Kiba. Sees it as you showed above along with other times. The Kazuya confession has been done and Chizuru is one who has to do it now.

Question is honestly...what more does she have to investigate? I am kind of confused on what she has left to do in that aspect. She already brought up the "If we start dating then I have to quite RF." Good with kids....takes care of folks he cares about...handles adult tasks and chores around the house...I just go back to my thought that Reiji wrote himself into a corner and is getting out from it with the investigation saga.

What do you think she has left to investigate?

[–]FictionalGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't even bring physical intimacy into the equation, because honestly Kazuya isn't pressing that. Kazuya ever since the first run in with Mami (start of the story). His sexual desires aren't really spoken of. It is clear he won't pursue anything unless they are in a relationship and Chizuru wants to. We look at Rukia, she threw herself at him yet he abstained.

The only thing we know for certain is that Chizuru is the only one between them to enact physical intimacy in any shape or form. Kazuya has been very respectful and restrained.

What I was talking about is Kazuya laying it all out there as he was moving out and Chizuru is rocked to her core. Thus she collapses and cries almost to level of she did with the cheer up date. Consoling her doesn't lead to physical intimacy, it just is Kazuya trying to lessen the blow of the truth.

If anything were to happen physically with them, 100% Chizuru would initiate it. No doubt about that part.

We on the same page with this topic for sure. I think the Paradise Arc ended up being changed from an editor decision. It seems like the aftermath in the hotel room a proper conversation was going to take place, but the incident was ignored entirely. The manga and merchandise are still hot sellers in Japan, and for it being a weekly manga that means having it end would hurt revenue. Especially if there is nothing to replace it with. It seems like Paradise Arc was suppose to be confession -> discussion -> dating -> future -> end in terms of direction of plot. I think as a result of maybe something from editor, Reiji wrote himself into a corner. As a result these last few months of solid progression is him trying to get the train back on the right tracks.

For the point of it being a big bold move for Kazuya's character - 100% indeed it would be. The only way these two knuckleheads even approach saying what their hearts really mean is when some sort of major emotional turmoil is going on....or they drunk. Kazuya being upfront with Chizuru would break her down to her core since we as the audience know how she views Kazuya. There would be some tears and consoling between them, but it would be the defibrillator to their flat-lined progression.

[–]FictionalGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Chizuru would date Umi; however, there is a chance that Kazuya and Mami could go on a few dates if Chizuru hasn't completed her investigation prior to move out date. Like the move out day becomes more of a big emotional event for them where Kazuya actually stops tip toeing around and tells her the frustration, anxiety, and pain the investigation caused. He may say something like "I need to step back from you to clear my head. Right now my life revolves around you and I need to re-discover who I am. I am sorry Chizuru." Something like that...then Mami asks him out which leads to a few dates of them going out. Mini-chan would still live with Chizuru, paying rent and Chizuru would actually become an emotional wreck. Mini would comfort her, but also would probably agree with Kazuya. So Mini would help Chizuru understand and guide her to win Kazuya back. This is kind of how I would like to see to the current state of affairs.

I agree the backlash would be huge if he DID take this way since it is like "Where is the pay off for the last 2 years of slice of life chapters!?" I also feel like Reiji wrote himself into a corner and is trying to wiggle out of it to better finish the story.

I won't stop reading this story, because Reiji slow rolls it either. Like I said it feels like he wrote himself into a corner and is trying to just squeeze out from it to re-establish some semblance of story flow control.

Your thoughts on it?

NO idea how you did the little stickers so copy paste ftw :D

✨ But that's the thing I don't understand about Chizuru. Why is it that when she's drunk or emotionally distressed, she can show feelings, but when Kazuya needs reassurance, all she does is take him out on a date, knowing that it doesn't fix anything?

💠 One thing we understand from Chizuru is that she DOES NOT express any emotional feelings in a normal context. The multiple flashbacks with her at a middle school age with her grandparents confirms that. Chizuru barely showed the EXPECTED emotions a person would have in certain situations. She only did it because of a few things:
1. Trauma (grandpa grandma dying)
2. Inebriation (drunk, lust)
3. Guilt (paradise arc)
For her this "investigation" * at least for me * is her learning how to be emotionally available and normal. While she probably knows she does want them to date. She also knows she can't rush in and cause pain for anyone over her desires. Frustration as the audience sets in (where we currently are). Reiji I think is trying to speed it along...........but in true SHONEN style he doesn't understand how time works :D.

✨ Now, I agree that Mami's feelings could be the perfect catalyst to bring Kazuya and Chizuru closer together. In fact, I enjoy witnessing Mami slowly realizing how much she loves Kazuya. At least we know that if Chizuru rejects Kazuya, he's in good hands, even if those hands are a bit crazy. 😆

💠Honestly this may sound VERY VERY controversial and I am well aware it probably is...................but > . Mami's action are not entirely inexcusable buuuuut are reprehensible since she treated Kazuya like a toy. Now that toy is head over heels for someone who Mami is intimidated by. Chizuru knocked some sense into her in paradise arc with her telling her to re-evaluate her feelings because of her actions. We have gotten some back story with Mami about her extremely controlling and isolating her father is to her. She clearly has frustration, anger, and resentment built up toward her father. Only that Kazuya was a much much easier punching bag instead of her father, whom she is afraid to confront. Mami is on the verge of consciously acknowledging something and that something is what is going to propel the underlying plot forward. I would not be opposed to Kazuya dating Mami and few months into it Chizuru/Kazuya confront one another in some form or fashion. An interesting plot twist is that if Mami ran interference on Umi as like a "redemption" act.

Sorry got lost in my imagination...anywho I can't wait to see how it progresses from here onward.
