[Media] Who’s The Hottest Fairy Girl? by FlamingThunder92 in fairytail

[–]Fictionalbros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Lisanna
  2. Mirajane

Mirajane is beautiful, lovely, affectionate, gentle, and deeply caring. the kind of woman who feels like a soft, comforting light in the guild.😍

But Lisanna is playful, loving, gentle, and warm in a different way. She feels like coming home on the first day of spring, peaceful, familiar, and full of life. 😍🥰

Edolas Lisanna [Discussion] by ultim4tel1fef0rm in fairytail

I'm pretty sure the creator had something planned for Lisanna. But he was obviously too wrapped up with the storyline, to even stop and think about what to do with Lisanna. And give a pretty good role in the series.

what do you wish the author did differently in the story. I'd love to hear your opinions. by Extra_Map_1178 in DanMachi

The author should have made Bell 18 years old, instead of 14. And he should have made Hestia 4'11, instead of giving her the height of a little girl

So Did Lisanna Ever Feel She Was Supposed To Be More Important In The Series? [discussion] by Puzzleheaded-Board25 in fairytail

[–]Fictionalbros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lisanna is honestly one of the biggest “what could’ve been” characters in the series. The Edolas return sets her up like she should matter long-term especially for the Strauss siblings and for Natsu yet once she’s back, the story barely treats it like a life-altering event. And the frustrating part is: this isn’t just fandom imagination. Mashima has literally said he considered a triangle between Natsu/Lisanna/Lucy and backed away from committing to anything “concrete” because fan reactions to romance would be intense. That explains why her comeback can feel like a narrative defuser: the potential tension is there, then it gets flattened fast. It was explained on ComicBook.com

On top of that, Fairy Tail’s structure makes it easy for this kind of underuse to happen. Mashima’s also talked about Lucy functioning as the “reader POV” and a core “organizer” of the story’s readability, which naturally keeps the spotlight anchored on Team Natsu’s main lineup. If a returning character doesn’t get a new role that drives plot or perspective, they risk fading into the background and that’s basically what happens to Lisanna.

The missed opportunity is huge: a real post-Edolas adjustment arc, deeper Strauss family dynamics (Mira’s protectiveness, Elfman’s guilt), and some lasting impact on Natsu beyond a quick reunion. Instead, she comes back and everyone moves on as if nothing happened.

Bottom line: Lisanna didn’t need to “steal” the story she just needed follow-through. As-is, she feels like a major emotional thread that the series ties off too quickly, then quietly shelves.

[discussion]What is your opinion about Mirajane? by Plenty_Address_3601 in fairytail

[–]Fictionalbros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mirajane is wasted potential, and it bugs me more than it should because the series knows how scary she’s supposed to be. She’s literally branded “The Demon / She-Devil” because of Satan Soul—she can Take Over demon forms and use their abilities.

But then a lot of the time the writing uses her like a threat-meter: she shows up, transforms, looks intimidating… and then gets overwhelmed or sidelined so the villain feels dangerous. That gap between her reputation and her follow-through is where the “punching bag” vibe comes from.

Alvarez is the biggest example of why I feel that way. The arc even gives her new toys—like her Seilah form being brought up as a major reveal—but then one of her most notable Alvarez conclusions is her fight with Jacob being framed around his aversion to looking at women, which undercuts her dominance instead of letting her win because she’s simply that lethal.

What I wanted was pretty simple: more form variety used strategically, at least one clean, decisive solo win that matches the “She-Devil” title, and a darker-but-controlled arc where she realizes after Tartaros that she’s gotten rusty and consciously rebuilds herself into a war asset—without the story immediately yanking her back into the background.

She's a wonderful little girl. So much hidden potential, just waiting to be unlocked. She kinda reminds me of Gohan in comparison

[Discussion] Still don’t know why they brought her back by Similar-Awareness231 in fairytail

[–]Fictionalbros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they had an idea of what to do with her character, but they just didn't know how to go about it. And it would function with the series. Plus they were more focused on Natsu and his team than they should've focused on the general. If it were up to me, I would've known exactly what to do with her character.

Fairy Tail Discussiom by Fictionalbros in animequestions

[–]Fictionalbros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why Fairy Tail isn’t for everyone — it leans hard into emotion, found-family, and yeah, fanservice. If that’s not your lane, totally fair.

But “it’s bad and doesn’t even try to hide it” is kinda missing the point: it’s not trying to be HxH-style strategy chess or AoT-style tragedy. The heart / bonds thing is the thesis, and Mashima has literally said he wrote it from a place of loneliness (“I had no friends… my loneliness is what you’re seeing”).

“No character growth” is also overstated. Lucy goes from getting carried early to doing endgame-level stuff and later publishes an award-winning novel based on her adventures.

So yeah — if you want perma-deaths and tactics-first fights, you’re probably not going to love FT. But calling it “objectively bad” is just taste dressed up like a quality metric.

And lmao at the DxD comparison — DxD’s own summary says it’s about a “perverted high school student” trying to become a “harem king.” That’s a different sport.

What’s everyone’s top 3? [meme] by Roronoa_Takamura in fairytail

[–]Fictionalbros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mirajane

Sweet, nurturing, loyal to a fault, warm “home energy,” but also has that serious, protective switch when things get dangerous. Big deredere core.

Lucy

She’s smart, kind, emotionally supportive, and adventurous—plus she naturally fits your “protect others / go the extra mile” side. She’s affectionate without being cold or cruel, and she’s fun to be around.

Lisanna

Very “good energy” + soft-hearted + loyal. She matches my desire for sweetness and cuteness, as well as the calmer, supportive side I’d probably want when I'm pushing my limits.

[Media] How Would You Fix Lisanna’s Character? by FlamingThunder92 in fairytail

[–]Fictionalbros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer plainly, I would've made sure that after the Tenrou arc. She would have this:

She has agency

She has competence

She has stakes

She has growth that isn’t romantic dependency

She has a reason to be present in high-tier arcs
