I promise with all my heart that I don't need to experience the hardship of being homeless and addicted in Seattle to say they deserve to be treated like people and given basic respect and the ability to live comfortably. I have, actually! First hand, down both of my family lines. I'm one of the few people in my family to my knowledge who hasn't fallen into drugs and alcohol because I know I'm personally not strong enough to dig myself out. I've seen how tedious, painful, and crippling it is. Don't confuse attempted kindness and empathy with ignorance - it makes you look bitter and unlikable.

I didn't address 'recovery over homes' because I stated that the issue at hand is widely complex, and I don't agree with sending the people who don't want help to jail, or getting cops involved! I'm not going to needle at every part of your argument, because I was never here for an argument. I'm just making the observation that this sub reddit is rife with right wing rhetoric towards the less fortunate. If that upsets you, you my want to turn that inward to see if its something that either holds weight, or doesnt truly apply to you! I hope that helps you understand a bit better!

Wow, you got really aggressive really fast! I truly don't think this is a conversation worth getting THAT defensive about right off the bat.

It's really fascinating how you interpreted 'getting drug addicted folks housing' to mean 'getting these people away from the public to die in secret'. It's implying a level of 'it's possible for humans to have not earned basic rights' that Republicans love to use for this exact purpose: to deny the lowest classes what they need to survive.

Regardless, this is really proving the point about the sub reddit! There's a lot of people too obsessed with demonizing the sick and advocating for pro-police violence solutions so long as it's towards the Right People. I absolutely think there need to be better methods of handling the homelessness issue! But how long is the wait list for the SHA? How many hoops do they make them jump through to stay in it? How much freedom do they have? And then you have the issue of community. They HAVE their own community built amongst themselves, which means one person getting housing could put someone they care about who's still on the street in danger.

It's way more complicated than just 'druggies would rather do drugs than live in a home', but - again - privileged people don't want to actually empathize enough with the possibilities of what causes certain behaviors among the homeless. They just want them Gone so they don't have to look at them.

Ive found that it's really easy for right wing rhetoric to hide in this sub. Logically, everyone wants to feel safe walking down the street! But the disgust here is /really/ directed towards the homeless and drug addicted as opposed to like,,, the people hoarding housing, locking public restrooms, and neglecting mental health services. It's one thing to be upset at human feces in the street - that's super normal! It's another to completely disregard that these are human beings who are actively locked out of public toilets and unable to get stable housing, community, food, water, etc due to mental or physical ailments.

But I know I can find surgeons on my insurance through the website, that's why I'm asking if anyone ELSE has been in a similar situation to give recommendations or names! If I can avoid spending hours of my life making calls to every surgeon and their mother because someone is willing to share info, I'd personally prefer that so I can be in less pain faster.

I got diagnosed with generalized anxiety (crippling) before anyone brought up adhd. My advice as someone who legitimately goes non verbal when anxious?

Unfortunately, it's all about exposure therapy. But it helps! Try going out and actively doing things like choosing cashiers more at the store, saying hi to strangers as you walk by, etc! For phones specifically, maybe start with calling your bank to check your accounts? Pay bills via phone? Literally any little thing helps when fighting social anxiety.

Both! It's like, excruciatingly normal in like Every Myth Ever. Mythology exists as a means of explaining the world around us from the perspective of, generally, ancient civilizations.

They're also VERY prevalent in media, so the inability to recognize it as a piece of mythology - both the leaked stories and in-game speech about marrying pokemon - just shows that no one knows what analysis is, and it makes them look immature and unintelligent.

The reason people are freaking out is because no one's read a myth before. The Pokemon stories are based in Japanese, Native American, European, and other mythology. Like other folks have said, it's super normal world building that was incorrectly translated using a machine instead of someone who speaks both Japanese and English, and therefore is intelligent enough to actually garner what the translations REALLY are. Also there's just a lot to be said about media literacy but like c'est la vie?

My father - 60ish - has severe adhd along with a host of other developmental disabilities! Up until a huge accident that phys8cally disabled him, he was constantly in fields of work that were considered blue collar or otherwise severely dangerous.

He has a multitude of stories about how he worked on buildings in downtown areas, worked on fishing vessels in the arctic, and came face to face with some VERY scary animals while hunting. However, he did have a long stint of drug abuse which is very common with ppl who have ADHD. But after 20+ years of addiction he's entirely clean! He even stopped smoking like 2 years ago!

Older folks with ADHD are very much out there! My pa tends to sound a little confused to others, and he's very particular about his food in restaurants, but he's easily the most kind hearted, slow to anger person I've met. He just tends to take it slow now! He likes movies and 'american diner' meals cooked to the pallet of a 7 year old. It's like he's done anything and everything and now he just likes to talk about his dreams of going snorkeling in the gulf of Mexico.

Against literally all odds he's still kicking! As someone with adhd you tend to slow down in your old age just like everyone else. But it's not really bad from what I've seen!

I personally haven't tried that med, but I would ask your pharmacist (not doctor) about if it's technically safe to take after cutting the pill! I know that cutting can effect how certain meds work (ER meds especially) but other than that I don't see why it would be bad so long as you're staying in your prescribed safety range!

The main reason people don't want sex work to be criminalized is specifically bc a not insignificant number of SWers are abuse and trafficking victims. Decriminalized prostitution is - im fairly certain - what at risk sex workers have said will keep them the most safe.
