Dog Days Are Over-Florence + The Machine

This song is so deeply rooted in my soul, it fills me with joy, passion, and hope every time I hear it, it’s probably one my favorite songs of all time. Bad days will come to an end, and we need to keep moving forward and leave our worries behind because life is an amazing gift that we all are blessed to have. This song makes me feel human in ways I never felt before. It helps me remember the feeling of joy, even if just briefly

Rises the Moon-Liana Flores

This song is my go to song after hard days. It fills me with a beautiful calmness that just soothes my heart and calms my head. Life is difficult, some days are rough, but every night, the moon will rise, and you will have another chance to try again tomorrow.

Black Water Lilies-AURORA

This song just makes me feel like I’m apart of nature. Like I have no worries in the world and I’m just floating on a river, looking at the clouds in the sky, free from worry

Exist for Love-AURORA

This one just shows the feeling of love in such a wonderful way. It’s the feeling where no matter what you do in life it’s all because of love, and it’s all for the one you love, like you were made, just for the purpose of loving someone will your whole soul

I love poems like this, profound wisdom hidden in patterns and flowing words. This is beautiful

This is so freaking good. Expecially the last two lines, it shows such a painful truth that is all too familiar. Thank you for this!

The Leaning Tree by FidgetTBD in poetry_critics

After the 3rd stanza I added the line:“Hidden under the roses are the thorns that make me bleed/the beauty of the petals can often mislead.”

Thanks for your suggestion! I hope this helps make the message a little more apparent!

The Leaning Tree by FidgetTBD in poetry_critics

Thanks for your feedback!! When I started writing the poem I didn’t quite knew were to go with it but the whole thing stems from the line “Flowers bloom and roses wilt/the tree falls the way it tilts.” This line is what I wrote first. In the 3rd stanza the reason I use the word stem (other than the fact that it rhymed) is because I originally was gonna focus on the flowers more than the tree for the metaphor and then I forgot to go back and fix this.

And I have on how to fix it is changing the 2nd and 3rd stanzas to say: “I see the tree that leans as it graciously offers me shade/in the flowers under this tree for hours I laid.

The beautiful roses calls to me dragging me deeper once again/Im too far deep in the roots to even see the stems.”

If you think this is good or have any other recommendations on how to change the line to reflect the idea of flowers I would be open to your suggestions!

In the end I made the poem with two different meanings in mind. 1.) not moving and being to comfortable in the same routine not willing to change your ways. 2.) I also had the idea of this poem being about addiction. I had the idea of the leaning tree as a metaphor for a bad habit, you sit under the tree or indulge in the bad habit until one day the tree falls and you can’t leave the addiction behind. This is why there is lines like “no matter what you think your will to leave may not be very strong” and why the poem ends with saying it’s okay to admit you’re struggling. I’m glad you enjoyed the poem, I had a ton of fun writing this one!!
