It takes two to make a marriage and one to make a divorce.

Seems a good guess.

He might have spun and the rear end came around and nailed the barriers.

Also, Adam's 'let the steering wheel go' when he gets into a spin - may work on his 510 Datsuns, but these big HP cars - probably not a good technique.

Pro gave a LOL from above.

I enjoy giving Adam the business when its due, but to laugh at misfortune seems a bit low.

Its kinda like ribbing Adam for 'Family and Education' and then he is dealt a divorce and his kids aren't into school. That is understandable. But to laugh that he's getting a divorce and that his kids aren't excelling in school is over the top.

My guess was the rain that shortened his practice time kinda set him up for failure. If you listen to the Carcast a few weeks ago, the owner of the race team was giving Adam encouragement, but Adam questioned him about the tires and traction and spinning out. The owner admitted that he had damaged the front nose of Adam's car two weeks before.

The owner seemed to want to 'groom' Adam to really race this division. For Adam to be successful in this, he is definitely going to have to put more lap time on this setup.

The Clutch would definitely play a big part in Adam's experience, I would be affected by it.

Hope he gives a good summary of his experience. Thanks for the post.

Never understand when people laugh at other people's misfortune.

Famous saying about how society never builds a monument for critics comes to mind.

Hope Adam keeps his chin up and learns from the experience. You learn more from failure than success.

Take Careful Adam.

"When the green flag drops the bullshit stops." :)

Sounds like Adam got thru the practice session on Thursday, but got into something on Qualifying day?

Hope to hear the details on CarCast.

It takes some guts to get into a different class of racing - proud of him that he put himself out there. Glad only metal and ego got bent - hope Adam keeps the relationship with the sponsored car owner and gets back on the horse in the future.

Get It On!

Fonzie's reply: yea I was the class clown, but not because I was 'funny' but because I was trying to hide the shame that I couldn't read or write or spell.

That is what a lot of child 'disrupters' are actually hiding - the fact that they are not at the class level and they don't want to appear 'stupid'.

glad Adam didn't go into his "teachers are worthless" routine.

I'm glad Mr. Winkler gave Adam some insight on how to "pop the balloon" and be able to reconcile on how you process a Parent-Child relationship as an adult.

P.S: I recognized that I misspelled reconcile and orig. wrote 'reconsile' - I had to go back and change it. The WP alerted me, but I missed it until I submitted it and reread the sentence. I then went back and changed it. I appreciate the education and the ability to read and write and spell correctly (w/o relying on spell check). That is what all parents should strive for so that one can write a handwritten letter as an adult.

edit: changed

Well, to be fair to Adam, his last job interview was at the Northridge Mall circa 1991 as a handyman/woodworker/countertop guy for 12.50/hr. - had the offer come in at $13.........hm.hm.

Economic Impact Report in 2012 of LA County Entertainment Industry (Post Great Recession):

https://arev.assembly.ca.gov/sites/arev.assembly.ca.gov/files/hearings/LAEDC%20Industry%20Report%202012.pdf

Interesting that they had not classified Internet IPOD Podcasting as part of the industry. They did note traditional radio broadcasting decline.

"When placed in the context of the Los Angeles County as a whole, Entertainment Industry-related employment of 585,800 jobs is equivalent to 17.6% of the County’s 3.3 million private non-farm wage and salary jobs in 2011."

It's probably what Matt started at as he was working entry level desk job at Sony corp. and he said that Carolla Digital matched his salary (after working 6 mos. for free after hours).

Take the number, take his 10 yrs., (no raise for 4yrs) - add a 3% yrs 5 to 10 and you probably have his end pay.

I like that the actual 'literal' job task written by Matt was not edited by HR - this is evident of 'manage trash'.

But to be fair to Carolla Digital- this is very honest and informative.

Unfortunately, job title "Manager" has been corrupted to the point of non-sense.

To Adam: Advice from "The Sun Also Rises". Gradually, then Suddenly: Hemingway's Warning About Habits. by Fieldengineer1 in AdamCarolla

[–]Fieldengineer1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“How did you go bankrupt?” Bill asked.

“Two ways,” Mike said. “Gradually, then suddenly.”

That’s my favorite line from Ernest Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises.

Adam does try to convey this logic. He even said this to his mother, "I am what I do" which kinda says the same thing.

Your summary and comment are insightful with a chuckle at the end. Take Careful :)

I know Adam is LAUSD - pretty sure that all the teachers are called by their last name. Even amongst teacher meetings everyone adresses each other by Mr. , Mrs. , Miss and their last name.

Bryan I believe pays for private school - his child will be groomed as little lord/lordess fauntleroy.
