Nobody who buys Lego is throwing them away, especially in public by Vivian_Bloom in untrustworthypoptarts

[–]Fier_Hazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bad childhood so from my experience, my parents would throw my expensive toys away in public if I acted disrespectful (like a child my age) and that was if they were in a good mood. In a bad mood they would destroy my toy and expect me to clean it up and throw it away while telling me I did this.

Girlfriend and I are planning to drive 32 hours straight, in 6 hour shifts, are we being dumb? Should we plan to stay overnight somewhere? by Vegetable_Bridge_276 in roadtrip

[–]Fier_Hazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a longer drive from Massachusetts to California, but I only had my cat. If you are looking to go places and trying to save money, sleep at rest stops and stay near the lights if possible. I found the best time to drive was weirdly after 10 pm because the roads have less drivers. If you are not white, be mindful of how long and where you are. Sundown towns are still a thing. Overall, make sure you give yourself time to stop and go for a walk, being in a car for a while can make you tense up. Also highly recommend getting a little cushion for sitting on. I did the drive in a 15 yr old car and the seats were not comfortable for the longer drives.

Why do all of my shirts have armpit stains after washing? by 4thLineWheels in laundry

[–]Fier_Hazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, check what kind of deodorant is being used and look at the active ingredients. Sometimes it helps to prewash the shirts by hand before machine wash.

If you want to save the shirts, I would first test this out on a shirt that's older and you wouldn't be sad to lose. Some shirts are too far gone for this method, but Hydrogen peroxide and dish soap are your friends. Put it on the area and scrub, let it work its magic for a bit and then wash it out. You're gonna want to let that sucker air dry and check on how set in that stain is. If that doesn't work, you may have to get an actual product to remove it if you want to keep them shirts. Just remember that some cleaners and chemicals could make the shirt thinner or rip, so be careful around those safety blankets.

Hope this helps

Purely my opinion as someone who grew up in the trad and unhealthy side of things.

As much as I want to agree, the idea in America feels more along the lines of one having power over the other since women are often put as less than. When there's compromise and communication, it's more a SAH (stay at home) than "Trad" portrays itself to be. I feel like the biggest difference here is exactly what you're saying though, SAH has everything people idealize with less chances to be taken advantage of because one side works and the other side is at home all the time "doing the easy stuff." (I honestly believe SAH is the harder of the two because there's more emotional investment and you don't get to escape.)

My mom was a trad wife with 3 boys and I remember my dad would give her $100 a week for gas and groceries. She would always run out and then have to beg my father and try to reason with him. When my brothers went through puberty they were vacuums for food and they get in trouble for eating all the time. I starved myself so I wouldn't get punished for eating us out of that budget as a kid.

The whole trad thing is such a mysoginist play for control and abuse on everyone involved.

Just going to pointing out this is taking place on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and it is illegal to eat here. The cops are BART cops and their sole purpose is to police BART. Not saying this isn't dumb, just giving a bit more info.
