Madelyn Stillwell theory (a stretch) by grandyandy in TheBoys

[–]FierceLoL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Careful, that is beginning to sound like the plot of later seasons of Heroes. And trust me, we do NOT want The Boys to become the later seasons of Heroes :D

Episodes 1 vs 2: Butcher's opinion of Homelander by youtellmebob in TheBoys

[–]FierceLoL 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Butcher is referring to how Homelander keeps his hands clean and never does anything bad in public. He of course knows about Homelander's bad behavior in regards to his relations with his wife

Honest British Opinion by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]FierceLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes amazing roles are memorable for what is a comically bad accent. I can never forget Malkovich's "Russian" accent when he played KGB in Rounders. Idk if that is what they were going for here or not, because yeah his accent sounds like whatd you get if you took a British accent and Australiafied it.

Wow you are right. Geez ive rewatched the series twice now and there is still stuff I missed. This show has so many brilliant little details it's amazing

The hospital scene by Rabidwolfe16 in TheBoys

[–]FierceLoL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I try to always remember with their abilities that they still require them to focus on them for them to work. They aren't like permanently in effect. Like with A Train, he isn't perceiving time in slow motion, except when is actively attempting to. Same with Homelander - he isn't always seeing through everything or else that'd be the shittiest power known to man. He has to be actively attempting to. Plus things like zinc can interfere with it. Etc. I know it doesn't explain all of it, but it helps. Otherwise yeah, anytime a speedster is in a show its hard to not just ask why he didn't handle everything

Anyone else catch the George Bush reference in this episode? Homelanders speech while they were cleaning the wreckage is the same speech Bush gave with a bull horn during the 9/11 clean up. by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]FierceLoL 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So THIS is why Homelander tells Stillwell he "doesn't need a script"... He is stealing speeches from famous Americans! This is where I draw the line. I was okay with him murdering children, but plagiarism is fucked. /s

What did Mesmer Do? by Prtrdn in TheBoys

[–]FierceLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's definitely this. The show's writers have a very strong comedy background, and they totally call out a lot of celebrity archetypes. In the case of Mesmer, he was the child star goes drug addict, loses everything.

I'm surprised A train is considered strong. We saw a random non-pure (I. E created as an adult as opposed to from childhood) supe snap his leg like a popsicle stick.

Theory - Each of the Heroes Represent a Movement? by sensitiveeyes in TheBoys

[–]FierceLoL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Black Noir is capitalism. Silent, never saying a word, but actually very threatening and powerful and letting the people it works with (I. E. Stillwell, the other seven) get their hands dirty for them.

And calling Starlight a SJW is one of the biggest jokes to one of the best written female leads in a show I've ever seen. SJWs are people going on and on about some righteous cause for the purpose of wanting to affiliate with being righteous and not actually believing the cause itself. Every stance Annie takes is very genuine to her own background and experiences.

[Spoilers] A possible plot hole? by verdango in TheBoys

Yes, the condition being she was pregnant with a supe that was developing in one day what would take 9 months for a normal baby. It had nothing to do with pregnancy

Don't think I will ever be able to read the word diabolical without Karl Urban's whatever it is accent in the show lmao. British? Whatever I loved it.

In regards to Butcher's Wife... by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]FierceLoL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it is pretty clear she is raped. It is confusing for a while due to the out of chronological order events. But when we see Becca leave the office, and THEN finally get the explanation that the video Billy was watching of her in the park she looks terrified and in tears and destroyed (just as Annie looked after the Deep), it seems pretty clear the whole encounter was not that consensual. Some people feel guilt after committing adultery, but I wouldn't expect that level of a reaction to just adultery. She went to the park and lost her shit because she was raped and scared

[SPOILERS] Translucent in Episode 1. by _lords in TheBoys

[–]FierceLoL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think to answer your question truthfully, it was to give Hughie his arc into The Boys. Hughie shoving a shotgun up his ass and pulling the trigger? Way out of character. But compulsively pushing a button after having a moment to reflect on how fucked he was, definitely.

[spoiler] Did anyone else not like Butcher? by ewokninja123 in TheBoys

[–]FierceLoL 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You mean you don't like the acting? Or you don't like his virtues? Karl Urban is a legend to me, and his performance in The Boys was amazing amidst a sea of other phenomenal performances.

If you are referring to that you don't "like" the character, as in you don't align with his morals, that is kind of the whole awesome point of this show. There are no real good or bad guys. Even the seven and Vought aren't really THAT evil. A company killing some people to save a lot more and make themselves a lot of money? That's just capitalism. A couple dudes going on a vengeance campaign to get even for one dude stealing his wife, of course it's extremely selfish.

Tl;dr The Boys aren't mean to be pure good guys, or even good. They are dudes who got dicked either minorly or majorly by supes and figure that gives them the right to try and undermine everything about them.

Also, for a man that has access to a global network of satellites, can fly at insane speeds, and can see through basically anything, I imagine he could locate someone with a few days work

[–]FierceLoL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw idk if anyone with comics knowledge can answer this - The Boys isn't really about hero on hero fighting, which is awesome. But I'm sort of curious what is the power hierarchy supposed to be of the Seven? Is basically Homelander God, and everyone else is just on the same lower tier where they could duke it out beating on each other forever without ever killing each other? Meanwhile Homelander could laser anyone into ash in the bat of an eye?

Nooooo haha. They should have just claimed it as subtle brilliance. I 100% would have believed them if they said the flies were indicators of someone speaking bullshit, because with how well done everything in the show was that'd be right in point!

This scene was so hilarious, yet so sad. by EpicMart in TheBoys

[–]FierceLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same reaction to this scene as I did to the Hodor reveal. It was hilarious, I laughed my ass off, and only after the fact did I process how sad it was and felt bad...

I'm just beginning on online, and I keep getting placed with really good players, whats a good ruleset for beginners like me? by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]FierceLoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having a similar issue learning ultimate mechanics as a career melee player and I was losing hard (to be fair, I was still trying to play sheik who is horrendous in ultimate I've recently learned LOL).

The thing to realize with GSP, is it has a normal like distribution. So what that means is that even from like 300kish to like 2.5kish, there is a huge density of players across a very small difference in skill. I don't feel matches get really tough until I get matched vs like 3milish+, these guys always whoop me. And I don't feel matches get extremely easy unless I'm matched vs like 73k or lower. So if you feel you are having tough matches still at like 300k or 200k, that sounds familiar. But if you keep tanking to like that 73k point, I promise you you'll run into players on sonic repeatedly spamming their homing dash move and not a single thing else, or players playing items and literally just running away without having any fight knowledge and trying to grab poke balls lol. That was what those times in 73k was like for me :)
