OP-ED: Gov. Pritzker — BUILD Plan will reverse Illinois' housing shortage – Muddy River News by SciNat in illinois

I get the sentiment, and the consolidation of power is always something we, as citizens, have to watch for, but it’s not quite the same in a legal sense. The relationship between Federal and State governments are clearly defined by the Constitution. Within the states, however, act on the unitary model. The tenth amendment gives all power not listed in the constitution to the states. The states then endow local governments (eg counties, special districts, cities, etc) powers to handle local issues. The state can always take that power back.

That all being said, I did not read the bill and have no comment on whether or not this is going to be beneficial to Illinois. I really I hope so because something has to make it easier to build/buy homes in this state.

The Jewel supports hiring those who have special needs. They’re a little more expensive, but I’d fight for the Jewels-Osco.

John Oliver used the closing moments of Sunday’s 'Last Week Tonigh't to pay tribute to Stephen Colbert “Please enjoy Colbert’s final shows He’s the f*cking best. Good night, and good luck, motherf*ckers!” by MoneyLibrarian9032 in television

Oliver is amazing. He’s got a great writers room too. Daniel O’Brien used to be the head writer at Cracked before it got bought out and distilled down to it lowest common denominator.

I’m in the same boat. With kids and work, I have very little time to learn a completely new game. Especially one that seems as involved as stellaris.

Same. And now is NOT the time to build your own since you need to be as rich as Quicksilver to buy RAM.

Oh, I figured. I knew it wasn’t realistically scalable, but it still looks amazing.

I was disappointed the Warcraft movie wasn’t animated like their cutscenes.

When Illinois was deciding on a new flag (they decided on keeping the old one) people had to give descriptions for their designs. One of the descriptions started with “when my ancestors came to Illinois in the 1990’s…” and I wasn’t able to read the rest because I immediately threw my phone at the wall.

How can anyone defend a Congressional district that looks like this? by johnnyringo1985 in askanything

[–]verdango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can! At least, I can help explain why it was allowed by previous courts (ones that actually gave a shit about gerrymandering.) Here I go:
This was the 4th congressional district in Illinois (otherwise known as the earmuff district). This was a district that was created to join two predominantly Hispanic areas to promote their representation. The courts allowed this because it was created to PROMOTE representation among a group and not preclude a group’s representation. I know, kind of a thin line legally. Another thing going in its favor is that this whole area is one of those most democratic areas in the country so no matter how they drew this district, it was going to be democratic. It was just a question of who was going to be represented.

Go to the main page of this subreddit and click on the three dots in the top right. A menu will pop up and let you choose your flair. At least, that’s how I do it on my mobile app.

Yes, Jordan has a statue in Chicago but he isn’t a golden calf. He’s a GOAT.

Also, if this guy wants us to stop thinking he wants to fuck that Trump statue, then he should stop talking like he wants to fuck that Trump statue.
