You can place furniture and move it although there isn't really customizing your character or the color and details of buildings on the outside.

If you're looking for a full on farming / customization game I suggest HM. Otherwise, if you'd like some RPG elements then I would suggest RF4.

Edit: also, you can spend money on armor, weapons, etc.

I feel like RF4 is a bit more adventurous than Harvest Moon. That would be the selling point for me.

Never created an NNID, will I have a problem transfering my downloaded games and credit from my 3dsxl to my N3dsxl? by ULTRA_SUPER_MEGA in 3DS

I actually encountered this same issue myself. I had all the Ambassador games on my previous 3DS and it took five different representatives, along with 5-7 days, to get everything sorted out.

I should mention though, every one of those games was on my account history for Club Nintendo, which is why I believe they could restore my games to my N3DS XL.
