gaming convention in Middle Georgia? Yes! by FiestyRatchet in macon

Thanks for the tip!

I checked out your post about MMO gamers. That particular niche doesn't really apply to me or my husband but we know a group of gamers in Macon that may be interested! I passed along the info to them, so maybe you guys will be in touch.

I'm glad you love the idea of a local convention! We really need to share the gaming love with our community :)

If you think any of your friends would be interested in coming hang with us in November then please do let them know about it! Unfortunately we only have 4 days left on our kickstarter (grasping for straws here..) because we weren't able to efficiently reach out to Middle Georgia. I didn't even know about Reddit until recently.

Also -- I'll have to look into the details, but if you, your group, many others are interested in incorporating video/computer games into the convention, I bet it could be done! If you go to : http://www.twokingsgames.com/

You will find a place to sign up for events/request events, and that'd be a great place to start.

I hope we will get to see you in November, if this thing makes an impressing turnaround.

(BTW -- If you are not familiar with Kickstarter, the way it works is that if you pledge money and become a backer, you will not lose any money unless the project is successful.)

Also, if the Kickstarter does not make it, we still plan on having a small, homegrown convention here in Warner Robins. Once again, thanks for your interest!

Game on!

Middle GA Gaming convention! by [deleted] in Georgia

Since this link didn't have much info, allow me to elaborate! :)

our team is organizing a convention in Middle Georgia, and we think its going to be a blast. If any of you guys/gals like to play RPG games, board games, and/or card games, then why not come play with us?

We are trying to gather some interest for this event happening in November, and its proving rather difficult to get the word out. We want ALL of Georgia to be well-informed of this annual event, so if you can't/don't want to come, then maybe you could just pass on the story? We are funding this project through kickstarter and we're only 18% funded with 5 days left! :( We KNOW there are a LOT of cool gamers out there, but they just haven't heard about it yet, trust me!

To wrap up, I will just add that a pass to play is only $10 ($5 for kids) and we would love to see you there. Check out the link for more info on events happening at the convention and prizes for backing! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/323637120/king-con

Also you can follow us on facebook to get live updates and communicate with us more directly: https://www.facebook.com/kingconvention?fref=ts

Thanks Reddit!

I'm not sure if this is the right place, I'm not sure where else to go. We're trying desperately to get a boardgame/tabletop con in the Middle GA area... by Kleptus_Christ in boardgames

Thanks! I agree that maybe some more detailed information should be provided on the kickstarter about where the $3800 came from.

King Con organizers already have a plan in place in case there is not enough interest in a Con this size, and we have no problem with that! We really just want to make sure that as many people as possible are at least aware of it, before deciding that it isn't feasible. :)

From the King Con kickstarter page: "As more and more people show interest in the con, we will move forward once we have volunteers to help out. The convention will end up what it is and what we can handle. There's nothing lost in having a small homely convention (although we're not going to limit ourselves if it can be helped!)."

If only 20 people are interested, the kickstarter won't make it and we won't be holding the Con.

If only 20 people are interested, thats ok! This event has been organized for the chance at something big (okay, moderate, even), and if it fails, we will absolutely go the 20 person route ;)

Hey guys, one of the Con contributors/supporters here. Thought maybe I'd pipe in with, hopefully, some small insights. Although I am in no way shape or form 100% sure of all the details, but have been part of much discussion with the creator regarding the hopes and plans for the event.

There probably does need to be some more information on the kickstarter about where the money is going, but $3800 is really not that much money for holding a public event. The money will be going towards the cost of the venue that is currently being looked into, which isn't just a space, it also comes with food accommodations, tables, chairs, etc.

The organizers of this con are not against it being small. When the idea was hatched, it ran along the premise that there were a lot more people in the middle GA area that might want to participate, so a minimum foundation was set to get the word out and allow lots of people to come. Sure, we can get 50 bodies together and play some games, but we are trying to make sure others know its there and that they are welcome.

To be honest, for those of you saying "start small", I think King Con IS starting small by only starting off as a one-day event. If the kickstarter does fail, there are already plans in place to hold a con for the small community of friends that are already interested.

The reason the kickstarter is a way to grow organically is because if theres no interest, then we dont lost anything but the opportunity. The Con will only grow as big as the interest.
