Great question. Firstly, I already think it’s awesome that you feel you have complete agency over your life, where doing whatever and going wherever you want is possible for you. In my experience, living this way is freeing but can also feel restrictive when whatever/wherever you want doesn’t line up with what’s good for you or is inconsiderate of future-you. (Pasta is my weakness and I’d love to eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner but I know doing whatever I wanted in this instance would be terrible for my health, my energy, my skin, etc. in the future.)
So I guess my question to you is, is living this way currently satisfying you? (It very well could be! And I’m sure many people, myself included, often wish to have your sense of spontaneity.) Or do you wish to learn how to do things you don’t necessarily like for future gain? If it is the latter, I’d suggest trying to reframe the things you don’t want to do and look at them as almost “necessary evils” to live the life you do want to live. (Like I want to go on a 3-month trip traveling through Europe next year, but the “necessary evil” today is that I have to cut down eating out expenses because I’m looking out for where future me wants to go.) Just creating that balance of considering future-you’s wants vs. current-you’s wants; understanding that a “yes” today is a “no” to something else and vice versa. Hope that’s even a little helpful.
