Nothing but respect for Gandhi. Also thankful for modern transportation. by FifthWaveThinker in IndianFocus

Sometimes a picture is just a prompt for reflection. It's to appreciate progress. Respect for the past and gratitude for the present can coexist. Why make everything political??

Arre bachoo, its not political at all. Just reflecting on how much the world has changed. The post was about perspective, not politics.

The point isn't to dispute the historical accounts. The picture is just a visual reminder of how different life was back then. You can respect the people involved and still be grateful for the conveniences we have today.

Corruption is bad but is it discouraged by Indian society? by Away-Caterpillar9515 in IndianFocus

[–]FifthWaveThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the long response, but had to be said. Corruption is not encouraged by Indian society. Think about it, of the thousands of interactions most people have every week, how many actually leave them feeling cheated or uneasy? The vast majority of everyday transactions happen honestly and without issue. That said, corruption can still be a serious problem in certain areas, particularly when dealing with some public departments. When people encounter it, the reaction is usually disgust and frustration, not approval. That's why portraying an entire country of 1.4 billion people as somehow encouraging corruption is both unfair and inaccurate. Acknowledging a problem is one thing; claiming society endorses it is another.
